Microsoft office word & power point fil...

i had vista laptop & got it converted as window xp & got downloaded microsoft office professionla plus 2007 in it. now whenever i try to open the word files, it stats with a small window configuring microsoft office professional plus 2007 & then a window appears saying that microsoft office professional plus 2007 setup completed successfully. but doesnot open the word file. clicking again on the word file for opening , i get a window saying that "microsoft office word has encountered a problem & need s to close. we are sorry for incovinience." & it asks for sending the error report . i sent the report many times but still i am unable to open my word files. kindly suggest some solution.
