Touchpad not active

Press the "Fn" and "F9" keys simultaneously.
Test your touchpad. If it works, it was simply disabled. Press the same key combination any time you want to toggle your touchpad on or off.
Plug an external mouse into a USB port on your laptopicon1.png if the key combination didn't work. Follow onscreen prompts to install the mouse driver--if necessary. You can also move the cursor using the "Tab" key and the arrow keys, as well as click by pressing "Enter" until the mouse is operational.
Click the link in the Resources section if you are using a Toshibaicon1.png Satellite with Windows Vista. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and re-install the driver.
Open a web browser and navigate to Synaptics.com if you have a different Toshiba model or operating system. Synaptics brand touchpads are used in all Toshiba laptops, and this site provides a generic driver.Hover your mouse over "Support" on the top menu, then select "Drivers" from the drop-down menu.
Select your operating system from the list provided and download the generic driver
Follow the onscreen prompts to install your new driver, and then test the touchpad again. If it still does not work, take your laptop to a licensed repair technician.

Release the scroll key

    • 1 Open and power on the laptop.
    • 2 Wait for the laptop to fully boot.
    • 3 Locate the "Scroll" button at the top-left of the keyboard. It is under the volume panel and between the "F12" and "Pause" keys.
    • 4 Press the "Scroll" button.
    • 5 Test it by opening a spreadsheet and using the arrow keys to move around on it. You can open your Microsoft Excel program or create a spreadsheet online by using Google Docs (free online productivity software). The "Scroll Lock" function will keep the current cell selected while the screen moves.
    • 6 Press "Scroll Lock" again to turn it off.

I can move the cursor but the click dose not work on my toshiba lap top could u help make it work i tryed to us the f 9 key but dou have to do somthing elseafter pressing f9?

I would use a USB mouse to get into the control panel, mouse properties and check that the buttons are enabled. If that does not work you may need to download and update the driver from Toshiba's web site, located here.
