Comparison HP Compaq 6710b Notebook PC XPPro 80G HDD T8100 What your opinion on this model for $650 (Australain) but has only 80 Gig HD also can this be increased without too much fuss ? Thanx in advance David

let me guess you lost your COMPAQ XP install disk ,right?
the steps are old as PC back to 1981. 4 decades old.
1: back up data, 2 ways, ask or see notes below.
2: test the HDD next on a 2nd good PC, no OS on earth loads to any b bad HDD that FAILS SMART TEST.
3: LOAD THE OS FREE.
4: BOOT HDD
5: DAY1 AGAIN/

NOTES:
BACKUP DATA:. HDD NOT BAD THAT IS. (only luck happens)
MOVE old HDD TO 2ND GOOD PC AND GET all data this way.
OR BOOT LINUX DEMO AND COPY DATA FROM OLD HDD TO
USB THUMB DRIVE.
a old hdd can be connect to any 2nd PC 2ways
to spare sata port (disktops rule this method)
to a USB /SATA docking bay or adapter.

Press F9 at startup. This will give you your boot menu. You will then be able to boot from your dvd-rom / upgrade bay etc.

Both 65w and 90w ac adapter will work on you hp compaq 6710b laptop, and do no harm.

The hard disk got damaged and it's dying - the boot take longer because the boot sector was damaged and it had to be relocated.
Create a reinstall disk with the utility HP has installed in the laptop, buy a new hard disk and install it and then reinstall Windows with the disk you created.

you need a new motherboard i'm afraid

You can buy in best buy mall.

First,you should check wether the connected power or Compaq business notebooke 6710b battery is OK.If There are no problem ,then there maybe some strange matter !
