NO COOLING IN FREEZER OR FRIDGE SECTION

HAVE CLEANED THE COOLING COILS OUT, TEMP SETTINGS SET TO ONE STEP COLDER THAN NORMAL SETTINGS, COMPRESSOR RUNNING PRETTY HOT TO TOUCH. FANS INSIDE ARE BLOWING AIR. FAN BEHIND FRIDGE AT COMPRESSOR IS WORKING TO. ACTS LIKE THE THERMOSTAT IS NOT WORKING OR THE COMPRESSOR IS LOW ON FREON. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INPUT ON THIS BEFORE I GO OUT AND BUY ANOTHER FRIDGE. CAUGHT IT BEFORE I LOST ALL OF MY FOOD, THOUGH. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP, LOOKING FOWARD TO HEARING BACK. THANKS AGAIN. LEON.

Yoiu are correct that the unit sounds like the compressor is low on charge and or has a clogged capillary tube. Whenever the condenser coils get rael dirty theres a chance that the capillary tubes will clog up with oil. That is the raeson that I personally do not like the refrigerant r-134a and prefer another one called hotshot or r-414b.

Danby fridge old model - freeze working but fridge section does not

Yes it has a fan you should here it and feel it. It sounds like your defrost coil may have gone out. Take the back pannel of the freezer off and see if it is clogged with frost.

Freezer fine, fridge not cooling

This sounds like a small Freon leak. It could come from cleaning the coils, or movement by the compressor. A technician with a gas tester (locator) can find any small leaks and repair that section. The cost is not excessive and a new unit is over $1000, so consider the options.

[email protected] fridg& frezer will chang 30 to 40 degrees if you open either door it will take a long time for for temp to drop

The compressor is the part which cools the refrigerator.---------- First i will explain the working procedure of your sanyo refrigerator.---------- In the refrigerator, there is a part called compressor, the compressor is the part which cools the freezer section, When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold.--------- So the freezer section cooling/ freezing is must.If freezer is not getting properly cooled or not getting cooled, then fridge section will show the low or no cooling problem.--------------
In your refrigerator, its quite possible that compressor is got weak, nor complete faulty but little bit weak.So when you open and close the fridge or freezer door , the compressor is not that strong to maintain the required temperature. So its working hard to cool inside temperature, but its not doing it quickly as it should.---------.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- ----------------
There is manual reset procedure, sometimes the ice gets frosted all over and blocks the ventilation's for cool air to pass from one section to another, and this also causes problem. So directly going for compressor inspection, before that you can try manual reset procedure and see if that helps.---------

The manual reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take approx 4 to 6 hours for your refrigerator to regain its regular cooling/ freezing .So after 4 to 6 hours check , Is the refrigerator cooling properly or is it taking time or temp is dropping once you open close door. If this problems are not noticed, then reset procedure has helped.------- But if same problem is noticed after reset procedure is followed, then you can get the compressor checked. -------- This should help. Thanks.Helpmech.

Frigidaire Side by Side Model: PHS68EJSB0 The temperature is warm on both the freezer and fridge. They are at about 25F and 60F. I have cleaned the condenser coils and they are wet now. Initially, the...

If you have the door alarm continuously beeping you will need to try and hard reset the unit. Turn the circuit breaker for 4-5 minutes and retry the unit. But if still the 5 beeps are coming on, then its problem with control panel board. Its not detecting door closed.------- The control board needs to be inspected.---------- If the doors are not getting closed, that means some cold air is getting out and thts why temp is not getting set. This is one possibility of temperature problem.-------- But if both doors are closed tight and no issue of air getting lost out, then other possibility for this problem is weak compressor.-----------

The compressor just keeps on running. The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant in the compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that freezer not cooling this indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Fridge and freezer same temp.

First of all, there is only one thing that cools in a fridge and that is the freezer. The fresh food section is cooled by air forced into it from the freezer.
  • You ice maker will not work if the temp inside the freezer is above 5 degrees. It has a thermostat inside it that enables it.
  • The knob that turns the fridge off and on is the thermostat for the freezer.
  • The other knob opens and closes a damper between the freezer and fresh food section.
  • There is a fan that should be running that pulls air from the freezer into the fresh food section.
(The factory does make the discription of the knobs confussing)

Now. turn one of the knobs all the way one way and then the next. If it turns the compressor off, it's the thermostat. If it does not, try the other knob. Once you find the thermostat, set it in the middle of the scale. Now place the other knob the same. Check and see if you can either feel or hear the inside fan running. If so lets go to the back. This is where your compressor is. It is under the fridge and also has a fan that blows on it. You will need to remove the back bottom panel. See if you can tell if the fan is running. Also notice if the fan is blowing into a set if coils. You should also be able to fill the compressor, if it's hot, it's running. If these two are running, and you didn't see a coil at the fan. Take the front kick panel off the fridge and clean the coil that's under the fridge. If it's dirty, give the fridge a couple hours and see if it cools down. If so, this was your problem. If both knobs are set mid scale, both fans are running, the compressor is also running and the coils are clean. You most likely have a bad timer, compressor or thermostat. This is all that's left.

Refrigerator top rack is warm. Temperature shows 65 degrees

if your freezer can make ice and the ice is dry, the problem is simply air flow into the refig section. A very common cause for a service call that wasnt needed for reefers is the settings. One setting OFF 1-10 usually, operates the compressor. The remaining setting will say , for colder freezer or similar, It opens a little flapper door between the freezer and the fridge section. If you set that one to max or coldest freezer it will actually starve out the fridge section for air ,and you get a cold freezer and warmer box! It happens everytime someone has the problem , its too warm! they peg both controls to coldest! The compressor will coll the freezer sufficiently even if set to 1 and the fridge should be cool too if the setting isnt pegged to coldest setting thus closing down fridge air and making the freezer colder which isnt ever required!

Freezer and fridge are getting warmer and warmer despite their settingsGE Profie PDS 20 MFS 2005

ONE OF THE MOST COMMON CAUSES FOR A SERVICE CALL IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU STATE, THE MAX SETTINGS ARE SET AND STILL ITS NOT GETTING COOLER, ESPECIALLY IN FRIDGE SECTION RIGHT?
IF YOU ARE MAKING ICE THATS DRY THE FREEZER IS OK,
THE PROBLEM 90% OF THE TIME IS THIS
AS THE FRIDGE SECTION IS RELIANT 100% UPON THE COLD AIR MIGRATING INTO THE FRIDGE COMPARTMENT VIA A LITTLE FLAPPER DOOR THAT OPENS OR CLOSES OR IN BETWEEN AS WELL , THUS ALLOWING MORE OR LESS AIR TO MIGRATE INTO THE REFRIGERATOR SIDE FROM THE FREEZER SIDE
THE STUPIDEST THING IS THE FRIDGE SAYS MAX COLD ON BOTH SETTINGS, ONE ACTUALLY CONTROLS THE COMPRESSOR AND DETERMINES HOW LONG THE COMPRESSOR WILL RUN IT USUALLY IS OFF AND 1-10 , THE ONE THAT TURNS OFF THE COMPRESSOR ISNT THE ONE THAT DETERMINES THE REFRIGERATORS TEMP! THE OTHER SETTING FOR COLDER FREEZER DOES!!!! TAKE THAT SETTING BACK OFF OF MAX FOR COLDER FREEZER AND THE LITTLE FLAPPER WILL OPEN ALL THE WAY , WHEN SET FOR MAX COLD THE FRIDGE SIDE STARVES!, ANY SETTING 1-10 SHOULD STILL KEEP THE FREEZER FREEZING AND MAKING ICE IS THE KEY! IF IT CAN THEN ITS NOT A REFRIGERATION PROBLEM , IT IS A CIRCULATION ISSUE

Refrigerator does not cool

If the refrigerator cooling is poor, it may be a problem with the thermostat, the compressor, or the evaporator fan. If ice is accumulating at the back of the fridge, that can also be a reason for poor cooling.
