Question about Polk Audio MMC5250 Car Component System

1 Answer

Broken crossover Hey, I have a momo 5250 cross, It has no cover so I could mount it behind the glovebox. long story short, cross comes loose, tears up the dual/single switch.... Anyone know a fix or a source for just the cross...? The speakers are fine so I hate to replace everything. Thanks! Thornton

Re: Broken crossover

They're usually just a standard DPDT slide switch. Try Radioshack.

My radio on my 2007 chevrolet aveo stop working. It is dead. It is like there is no power.

This happened to me and the next time I beeped the horn the radio came back on. Then for a long time radio would only come on if you beeped the horn. Battery has since gone dead, when I jumped it the radio now works fine. I am convinced wires are crossed and radio still sucks juice from the batttery even when the car is off. Battery stays charged and starts car if you make sure radio is off before shutting car off for the night. Am taking it to the dealer a.s.a.p. So long story short see what happens when you beep the horn.

How do i install my component set if i had speakers already?

The mid-bass drivers usually can fit easily into the original speaker holes. Pre-wire and double-sided sticky tape the crossover block to a cross-beam or structural support inside the door- NOT on the exterior sheetmetal. Choose a mounting location for the tweeter pods. Usually around ear level, or aimed at ear level works best. I like to tuck them up on the A pillar of the vehicle frame and if no room is available there - the plastic molding on the interior door where they hide the mounting hardware for your side mirrors is a prime choice too.

I need installation manual

its not a subwoofer it is a midrange speaker. all you do is connect your outputs from the radio to the crossover then connect both the tweeter and midrange to the outputs on the crossover. it is called a component set.

How do you install dome tweeters?

tweeters get installed almost like any other speaker. you pick a mounting spot, then mount them, or cut the hole for recessed tweeters, etc. run the wire to the closest speaker wire from your stereo, and just splice it in. you will however need some kind of crossover to prevent the low frequencies from being played through the tweeters. if you buy new tweets, they usually come with their own crossover, or there are a few different styles you can get.there are the passive crossovers, the ones that look like small boxes. there are also the inline filters. these are the ones that you splice into the positive speaker wire to filter out the low frequencies. and some aftermarket stereos come with some kind of filter or equalizer built in, depending on your model. what I would do is buy one of the inline filters for each tweeter. theyre inexpensive, and easy to install, and they work great. so basically, just mount the tweeter, run its wires to an existing speaker wire and splice it in, and install an inline filter on the positive wire for the tweeter. oh, one last thing. if your interior speakers are powered by an amplifier and not by the stereo, then just run the tweeter wire to the speaker outputs on the back of the stereo. too much power will definitely destroy any tweeter. good luck!

No sound out of tweeters, highs out of woofers?

it does sound like you shorted out your crossover which can be fixed if you know what you are doing, but in the long run i would try to get another one i know that raidoshack sells some small ones and is also cheap, if your positive that you didnt short out the crossover se if it needs power, see if you can cross your woffers and tweeters on the crossover, if not is there any settings that u can change on the crossover? hope i helped :)

Speaker problems

i would make sure that your speakers are wired in the correct phase.. positive and negative are correct.. if they are out of phase they will cancel each other out giving you no bass
