I have a THS220 box and have difficulty recording programmes

Hello Joan,

To record a satellite you will need two scart leads.

Plug one end of the first scart lead into the "DVD/VCR SCART" socket on the back of the satellite receiver, then plug the other end into the "INPUT" scart on the back of the VCR. Take one end of the second scart lead and plug it into the "OUTPUT" socket on the back of the VCR and plug the other end into "SCART IN" socket on the back of the TV.

To record, select the satellite channel you want to record, then, on the VCR, select scart input, (at this point, you can record a satellite program). To watch a satellite channel or recorded satellite channel, select the scart input on the TV.

If you need anymore information, then let me know.

Kind regards,

Video tape to DVD conversion

There appears to be quite a few problems with people trying to convert their video tapes to DVD using a PC and propriety converters, editing programmes etc.

Friends have also has such issues, lip synch being one of the most prolific.

I've successfully converted mine, without too much issue and managed to avoid these issues.

I hook up my VHS recorder with a DVD recorder2_bing.gif which also has a HDD. Daisy chaining it on to a TV to monitor. All with scart leads.

Play the tape, record to the DVD hard drive. Finally edit and dub to DVD.

Your recorder is mostly analogue with just a hdmi output, you need to link up using a scart lead or similar adapter lead for recording, looks to me like scart 1 (decoder) or the front sockets for input use while. the other scart looks to be just for TV to use.
If your TV has another hdmi then I would have thought your sky sat would connect that way leaving the scart for your video.
Though if it has only one, then you are looking at a multi input box for hdmi (some are automatic others have remote control) or demote your video's hdmi lead and connect it to the Sky sat, use the scart lead to link it with the video's scart 1 and the other scart socket to TV by the look of things.
Its a problem with older and younger equipment because they are built at different times with their connections decided by that time of manufacture.

Hope this helps..........

I cant get dvd recorder to record ext 2

Firstly, is the scart lead plugged in fully? Does it get the sound or nothing?
Is the recorder sitched to the correct input? It may be trying to pull a signal from the TV which may not be passing through the picture from the sky box.
Also, is the scart lead fully wired? Some only work one way so try spinning it round between the recorder and sky box.

I have red, white and yellow leads plus an S video going from the Dazzle to the TV and the TV connected to the VCR by a Scart, I record sound but no picture. Am I hooked up correctly and what do I select...

If you are using "Composite" output the leads are red/white = sound. Yellow = video. If you are using S-video cable then yes you will need to select that option in the menu.
Hope this helps, Dave

There can be a whole gambit of issues with these Dazzle devices. I hate them. Also friend have tried to copy to PC via firewire from mini DV camcorders. After a video of just a few minutes they run into lipsync problems.

For what its worth, I've managed to copy my VHS home video to DVD without issue and you may already have the equipment.

I hook up my VHS recorder with a DVD recorder which also has a HDD. Daisy chaining it on to a TV to monitor. All with scart leads.

Play the tape, record to the DVD hard drive. Finally edit and dub to DVD.

I purchased a dazzle dvd recorder. it has red and white audio leads ,yellow video lead . my vcr has only white audio. i installed program.followed the instructions. put put dvd and vhs in proceeded to...

I hate these little converters, much more trouble than they're worth.

The red and white leads provide stereo. As with VCR's just having a white phono out is quite common. There's just no connection for the red.

Its then a case of recording to your PC HDD, Edit the recording and saving the file. Finally burning the file to DVD.

You have to ensure that, assuming the options there, that you save your file as MPEG1 or MPEG2 or any file compatible with your DVD player.

In this case it looks like your "burn" failed for what ever reason. I'm afraid that disk is now a coaster. Have another crack, take your time, one stage at a time.

The way I do it, I've got a DVD recorder with a built in HDD.

Hook up my VCR to DVD recorder via scart and loop it through to a TV so I can monitor it.

Press record on the DVD and play on the VCR. When complete, edit the recorded file on my DVD then copy or dub to and finalize the recorded DVD.

Hi and welcome to Fixyah,

Did you mean dazzle and hooked it up to your MAC machine. I guess and I understand that you need to install the driver for your MAC OS. Because dazzle can only work with Windows Operating system. Can you please tell me if that device is Pinnacle capture for MAC?

Hi Martin,

A wiring Schematic is not that you should be looking. What you need is large feeders to understand hot to connect to various ports to give your desired output.

Souud delay on tv /amp

Instead of connecting each device (sky&dvd rec.) to the TV separately, I would simply hook up the sky to dvd recorder (connect the sky output and dvd recorder input), and then connect the dvd recorder output (must be called "play out") to one of the available recorder inputs (which could be a dvr, an empty tape input, etc)of your amp. However, you'll still have to establish a feedback between your dvd recorder and your amp. Therefore, if the dvd rec. supports it, you'll have to hook up the rec.out, which is on your amp.,to on your dvd recorder. After all these audio connections, you will only need to make a video connection among the sky, dvd rec., and tv. Get a video cable to hook up the sky video output to your dvd recorder's video input, then do the same thing between the dvd recorder's tv output and tv.
