Computer does not boot up.

The power works, the voltages are all correct, the monitor works, but nothing shows up on the screen. Also, the hard-drive light stays on.

Unit unplugged to outlet and power off.Check RAM. Reseat or clean its edge connector using soft eraser before reseating.

Or it is not receiving enough power if you are using small AVR.You can try to plug it directly into the power outlet if its voltage requirements is the same with the unit.

First of all, power down, remove all cables and check to see if your Graphics card is inserted correctly. Also try removing and re-seating the graphics card.

Check the cable from graphics card to monitor. Also try cable and monitor on another pc to eliminate this possible cause.

Failing that, you could have a BIOS problem.....did you recently try to flash your BIOS chip??

I have a XPS M1530 the screen is black I press the power button for a second it stay on everything lights up sounds and feels like its on gets warm but nothing on the screen Itrying everything taking out...

You either have a Video Card problem or an issue with your LCD Screen.

Does it every post anything to the screen? If nothing ever posts on the screen when you hit the power button and it will not do anything with an external monitor, then your Video Card is bad. I wonder if you have the Nvidia Graphics Video card on your system?

If it seems like the laptop booted up all the way (you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, see lights) but the screen is black then try the steps below.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barely see the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash light and nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card is bad.

Computer won't boot up

Does it sound like the computer booted up except the screen is black. Do you hear fans running, the hard drive spinning? Maybe the system booted up, but the screen has an issue.

Blank screen

Did it boot all the way? Do you hear the fan running, disk drive spinning? If it sounds like it booted but the display is black, try this:
When you press the power button do you hear fansrunning, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lightsconstantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer ofthe DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying toboot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Computer will not load up - frozen on acer start screen?

Are you sure the monitor is plugged into the correct port? Also, check the monitor cable for bent pins. A small move shouldn't make this kind of difference. Eliminate that power strip and just plug the computer and monitor into an outlet.

Hp laptop computer will not boot up. The power comes on and you can not hear the hard drive start spinning - no hard drive clicking either. You can hear the fan start blowing....but nothing on the lcd...

You hit the problem right on the head, NO BOOT. All computers have to have a system disk to read whether it is on a floppy or hard drive. your computer is not reading your hard drive. It either is really screwed up from the boot, or it has been formated and has nothing to read. Try installing a new copy of windows or inserting some type of bootable disk. if that works, Install your windows operating system. Insert a disk in your D drive or your CD drive letter and turn the computer off, restart the computer and the disk should boot your computer. Good Luck.
