GE GSH25JSRFSS REfrigerator not working

All the lights are woorking but flikring with a cliking sound. The filkering & clikiring sound goes off when the Dispensor light is also lit. But in any of these conditions the compressor is not getting on i.e. the compressor is not working.

just like you described, lights on, clicking every second or so and lights dim . also fan motor and compressor not running

  • Daklu May 10, 2008

Similar problem here. The water and ice dispenser is not working, the dispenser light won't turn off, and the compressor quit working.

I traced the clicking to a relay on the main control board but haven't yet been able to figure out why it isn't staying on. I could see the rear fan in the freezer (look through the slots in the grill just below the ice maker) trying to start up when the relay turns on, but since the relay will not stay on the fan doesn't continue running. I can turn the fan freely by hand so I know it's not jammed.

I also discovered that when I disconnected the dispenser control board the compressor would run although the clicking didn't stop. You can access the dispenser control board connector by removing the top freezer door hinge cover with a phillips screwdriver.

Still trying to track down the problem... I wish I could find an online circuit diagram.

I had the same problem as do thousands of people with this same fridge. The mother board is bad and needs to be replaced. It is easy to do yourself and the part costs less than a service call.: Unplug the cord from the wall, remove the panel from the back of the fridge (it is about the size of a small shoe box lid) You will see the mother board (ice, water, light, and compressor control unit). It is an electronic circuit board. There are about 5 or so plugs going into the board. Remove the plugs and the retaining screws and search Ebay for the part#WR55x10552 GE Power Control Board. I found one for $74, popped it in, and everything works better than new!

This seems to be a common problem with these units.
GE does not seem to be willing to provide schematics to allow one to troubleshoot the unit easily.
Replacing the main circuit board seems to solve this problem with most. This indicates that the relays GE used in this circuit board were of poor quality.

The compressor and condenser are stoped working whenever the dispenser cradle is pressed, then the control board keeps clicking forever and the freezer is becoming warm and the frozen stuffs are melt. Also there are no water, ice cube and crushed ice cube coming out from the dispenser when the dispenser cradle is pressed, even though the water line is connected and the ice cubes icemaker made are filled in the ice bin.
And recently(in the past week) refrigerator stops running several times and the control board keeps clicking when we returns from outside. we wait long hours and until the freezer are melting, we have to unplug and plug several times in a try to start the compressor and condenser.

Water not coming from gss25lgmb bb

I have a GSH25JSRFSS GE refrigerator. Twice, the water line has frozen near the dispenser. Each time I used a hairdryer to heat either the side of the door where the water line runs and blew hot air up the dispenser. This last time, I took the plastic cover off the outside of the door (it clips on) and blew hot air into the small holes in the door that the outside grate clips into. This allows the hot air to get inside the door, and I heard ice from the frozen line drop. Subsequently, the water line worked. Two points: I did have water running to the line in the bottom of the refrigerator, so I knew it was an ice clog, and secondly, I took care not to blow hot air on the exposed wires inside the door.GKAZ

I have a GE fridge, it is a GSH25JSRFSS model, GH204618 serial number. It stopped working except for the light inside. I found that the main or mother board was smoked up and had a burnt place on the....

Sometimes you can call GE and get help but most times not if the year warranty has expired. I personally have never found any problems other than the board itself just having a bad relay or a circuit blown off the back. Thunderstorms are hard on them too. Below is a link for the model unit you asked about.

Stops cooling ice melts and leaks water on the floor

That model refrigerator uses the mother control board for deciding when defrost is to take place. It has no defrost timer or Adaptive Defrost Control like other refrigerators. This sounds like *********** board part number WR55X10942 is malfunctioning. The board decides most functions of your refrigerator. Until the board is replace I do not believe the problem will resolve itself. Thanks, Sea Breeze
