Re: belkin cable

Why are you trying to do so with a serial cable? You can only transfer 115Kb/sec over serial... get a crossover ethernet cable and do so at 100Mb. Just ensure that you've set the ip address on both computers to a static ip... like on the 1st and on the second. They should be aware of each other then under Network Connections. If you've got a network device, like a hub, router, or gateway, you can use standard ethernet cables and let the network device automatically asign the network IP address.

Belkin N Wireless Router doesn't connect to Modem

If router is brand new you should have a set up disk. the set up disk will walk you through it or you might log onto Belkin site to see a walk through set up. If you can access internet from modem to router to internet. That means router is functioning properly. To go completely wireless you will need to secure your network and setup your access codes. Definitely use the setup disk to do this. A unsecured wireless network is a nightmare waiting to happen. Good luck

Shielded usb cable

Pretty sure software has nothing to do with might just be a bad cable. try plugging in some thing else. if that doesn't work, check the port and the peripheral you are trying to connect. also make sure you have installed the correct drivers.
