Question about Belkin 5 ft. Shielded Serial Cable (F3B207-06)
Why are you trying to do so with a serial cable? You can only transfer 115Kb/sec over serial... get a crossover ethernet cable and do so at 100Mb. Just ensure that you've set the ip address on both computers to a static ip... like 192.168.1.1 on the 1st and 192.168.1.2 on the second. They should be aware of each other then under Network Connections. If you've got a network device, like a hub, router, or gateway, you can use standard ethernet cables and let the network device automatically asign the network IP address.
