Question about ASUS M2V Motherboard

1 Answer

M2V Replacement failing to post after initial power on

I am now on my second M2V board with an Athlon 64 X2 4200. I have 1gb ram, pc6400, 5 hd's and dvdrw. I have a 6800GS Nvidia card, and extra raid adapter in pcie x1 slot. Previously ALL components worked on previous board, but board failed after bios flash failed. The new board i have will post after resetting RTC, but if i configure the settings in the bios, it reboots and fails to post. I can allow it to use default settings but when i reboot the machine, it fails to post. I have tried to remove all hd's and dvdrw but this fails to remedy the situation. I am in the process of checking the jumpers on the board, however i fail to see how this would allow me to post on initial rtc clear, but not further on from then. I can only boot after rtc clear, but after that it fails. ANY help on the matter would be much appreciated. cheers Dom

keyboard non functional, no leds when num/caps/scroll locks active.
I checked jumpers and they are all in a position im confident wont prevent boot, and have tried in numerous different variations.
Ram removed, no difference. but does post after rtc has been cleared, fails to after reboot. Didnt realise it could post with no ram :)

havent got another pci or pcie card to test out.. thankyou for the suggestions tho... :)

one thing i found most unusual, the Day of the week in the bios. As with all bios's and most date/time programs, one cant enter in the day of the week - ie wednesday or saturday. When i set the date as 03/09/2007 (uk date) the bios detects the dotw as a saturday, yet, as we all know it was a monday.

Could the problem lie in a bad flash from manufacturer?

    :D cheers

Hardware upgrade required for autocad 2009

Your existing CPU will not work with that motherboard. The AM2+/AM2 processor slot is for AMD processors only. For this motherboard, you will need one of the following processors: Phenom FX / Phenom / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64 X2

Dead hard drive, replacement not working

The solution is that you simply cannot go out and buy a replacement HD. You have to buy TOSHIBA's replacement HD.

They make a 40, 80, 160 and 320 GB HD for Tecra MV2's etc.- Other HDs simply will not detect.
