Question about ASUS M2V Motherboard

M2V Replacement failing to post after initial power on

I am now on my second M2V board with an Athlon 64 X2 4200. I have 1gb ram, pc6400, 5 hd's and dvdrw. I have a 6800GS Nvidia card, and extra raid adapter in pcie x1 slot. Previously ALL components worked on previous board, but board failed after bios flash failed. The new board i have will post after resetting RTC, but if i configure the settings in the bios, it reboots and fails to post. I can allow it to use default settings but when i reboot the machine, it fails to post. I have tried to remove all hd's and dvdrw but this fails to remedy the situation. I am in the process of checking the jumpers on the board, however i fail to see how this would allow me to post on initial rtc clear, but not further on from then. I can only boot after rtc clear, but after that it fails. ANY help on the matter would be much appreciated. cheers Dom

No External Speaker Sound

Hi jdnimrod,
This is not you're first post about the Foxconn mother board.
You have an issue with the PS2 keyboard as well. This Foxconn model ( 761GXK8 you listed ), is not 100% correct.
Please check this link:
Find which is you're board.
Than post back into this answer.
It is important you run the exact CPU that is compatible with the mother board.

Foxconn's Compatibility chart for MB to CPU.

761GXK8MC-RS MB Compatibility chart:

761GXK8MB-KRS MB Compatibility chart:[1].htm

I'll help you further once I know the correct mother board.

Auto shutdowns can be any number of problems but since it seems to do it about the same time frame of turning it on then I would verify and make sure that the heatsink / cpu fan is installed correctly and thermal grease has been applied. Also run a memory check as failed memory could also result in a simillar problem. Another source of problems simillar to this would be the power supply.

Motherboard Issue

Hi Tomokato,
This maybe nothing but the first thing I checked is the CPU.
Supported CPU list through Asus web site for M2N-SLI
(Click on this link).
The first supported 64 X2 is;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2
Second CPU supported;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (DD),1MB,65W,rev.G,SocketAM2

The CPU that you are using is not supported.
Since this is a new CPU, you might be able to exchange it for the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2.
Link to Asus main web site for M2N-SLI.
Suggest you add the above link to you're favorites.

Even you're memory is not supported. As seen in user manual page. 2-13.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
