When you turn on computer look for Acer logo on boot up. Press F8 or F10 or F2 while the logo comes up several times (if you miss turn it off and try again)and then you can access your bios. Use arrow keys and enter to clear the password. Follow the bottom of the screen for directions and if you need more help let me know and thanks for using FixYa.
Hold the f2 key down and keep it down... It will bring you to the bios which will allow you to boot in safe-mode or by using rescue cd or partition in your hard drive. Your hard drive may have problems or has crashed.
Try restoring your system bios to factory default and this may fix your problem. If not- post again with results and we'll go from there.
Entering System Setup
Turn on your computer.
When the blue DELL logo is displayed watch for the F2 prompt to appear (black screen / white text).
Once this F2 prompt appears, immdiately press F2 .
The F2 prompt indicates that the keyboard has initialized and is detected. This prompt can appear very quickly. Watch for it to display as the screen powers up, and then press F2. If you press F2 before you are prompted, this keystroke will be lost. There is a small window of time to do this before Windows starts. If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop. Then, shut down your computer and try again to enter setup. At setup check your bios version. It may need to be flashed (upgraded). Select load factory defaults to see if that will resolve your PCI issues.
the windows operating system is corrupt, you need to get a technican to repair the OS or lets chat so that i can give you step by step how to go about it.
It sounds like the Acer logo has been turned off in the bios settings. As soon as you hit the power button, start tapping the F2 key until you see the test appear "entering setup". Once you are in the BIOS, look for the Logo settings as far as being visible during Boot up. I've seen this setting on other systems so I am thinking the Acer should be similiar.
Upon loading press F2 or del to enter bios setup and change the settings to display the acer welcome screen and the one you said about Microsoft logo and white box with green lines, you cant by pass it because it's windows loading screen
There might be a bios setting that you have too set for the recovery mode. If you can get into the BIOS then check to see if there's a setting for recovery. You can also try at boot up (before the Windows error) to hit Ctrl-F10.
Try this - go to BIOS (while you see ACER logo press F2 (or other key, it should be shown below the logo)) and select setting called something like "Restore Defaults" or "Load System Defaults" or "Optimal Settings". When it asks "Are you sure", pres Y then Enter. Tell me what happens.
