Question about Samsung (DXP47810JL) 5 Pack 8x DVD+R Storage Media

1 Answer

Burning trouble I tried to burn DVDs using this product and sometimes it would burn ok but often an error message ended the burn. However, the discs that burned ok will NOT play on a DVD player nor on my computer and it's saying "No disc" on both. I did this with several DVD burning programmes. I eventually trie to use on another computer through ROXIO disc copier which said "no recordable disc present" even thogh it was a DVD+R - the same message was for all discs I tried. pls help. My DVD re-writer says it supports all formats of DVDR & RW (plus, minus etc)

The lens of your dvd writer might not be working properly anymore, i strongly recommend that you replace your writer with a new one.

well if that's your case, i guess your dvd writer is choosey, with the brand of blank disk to be use.

I get an error message to use a blank or erasable DVD

I would try simply copying one of the already completed discs using a stable and well known burning program like Nero. Programs like Pinnacle can be very temperamental when exporting their projects to disc.

My dvdr/rw wont burn dvds properly

There are many reason for this.Try following steps to look out for solution.

1>Use better quality Dvd to burn .DVDs are just a few cents worth of plastic, manufactured in massive quantities. Sometimes you end up with a bad disk or a bad batch. Try a new disk, or a whole new brand, and you may have more luck burning your DVDs

2>Dust in your DVD burner can prevent it from burning DVDs correctly. Buy a lens cleaning disk and use it in your DVD burner drive. This can clean things up and give you a clean, successful burn.

3>For better quality burn at slow speed. It’s always tempting to burn DVDs at the highest speed possible. In theory, you’ll save time and can get more DVDs burned. In practice, though, higher speeds can result in unreliable burns.
Slow things down and set your DVDs to burn at 4x or even 2x. This may eliminate errors.
I hope this will solve your problem.

The drive plays DVDs and can read doc files, but

This problem is normal and exists with many CD/DVD drives.
On some of the drives, if you put in blank discs and try to open the disc in My Computer or Windows Explorer, Windows displays no contents or a blank disc. Whereas on other drives, you get the error message that you mentioned about incorrect function.

What software are you using to burn CDs or DVDs? Are you able to burn CDs but not DVDs or you can't burn both the discs? Did you try a CDs with a different make/manufacturer? Some drives refuse on some disc makes. Try another disc and another writing speed, or try the lowest writing speed available with your software.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
Raspal

Burning dvds with realplayer

DVD discs come in two capacity sizes.
Single layer DVD have a capacity of 4.7 Gb
Dual layer DVD have a capacity of 8.5 Gb
Some DVD burners are single layer burners only and cannot burn dual layer discs.
The error message you are getting would indicate that the disc you are using is not large enough to copy all your program material.

Problem burning DVDs

This happened to me also. I fixed the problem by buying new DVD discs, sometimes the mac's rom doesnt like particular discs. Its a trial and error thing with which ones it will use. Make sure you are using the latest version of Roxio toast to burn with, also make sure your ROM is DVD-R.

If all this fails, it could be your writer in the rom. Try burning a CD, if that works it will be the above problems.

Try using discs with a GOLD BOTTOM, it seemed to work for me.

Has trouble reading discs (intermitant) when burning

There are two common causes for these kinds of problems: software doesn't match, or media doesn't match. also, there a lack of info in here. is drive capable of reading dvd's when it is used for other purposes? 1. are you sure you got the right firmware? check for updates on brand site or on google. 2. try using several types of media from diffrent brands. some drives cannot read specific media (for instance, sony drivers sometimes having trouble with JVC media). 3. the least common, but worst option by far is a hardware problem. if drive is bad, you should try and replace it in case your warrenty didnt expire.
