Outlets in the house have reversed polarity. - Cars & Trucks

Switch the wires in the duplex/receptacle
The black goes to the terminal that is the shortest
& has the gold screw
The white wire to the silver terminal & the longer slot
You don't really have polarity on a/c, just have an incorrectly
wired outlet

1987 e350 5.8 litre, reversed polarity

Take it to an auto electrician. My guess is the ECU is ruined. You need proper diagnostics by someone with experience of vehicles affected by reversed polarity. The alternator also needs testing.

This post shows lots of things affected.

Bought 2 heating pads why do they keep breaking. now what out all this money. Jerry Krause N7620 Jupiter Drive Fond du Lac, WI. 54937

Check the polarity on your wall plug..house side... if it is run backwards it'll kill off electronic devices... if you look at where the unit plugs into the wall there are two slots for the blades to push in... so in a reverse polarity the electrician has done screwed up and gave the hot power to the wrong side... to find out if this is the case go to a hardware store.. grab a polarity power tester which shouldn't cost more then 10$. It will look like a large plastic plug with three lights on its face... depending how they llight up when plugged in will be your answer.. don't worry the code for each sequence is right on the plug... if that is the problem then check and mark any bad outlets in the house and call in an electrician

Reverse polarity

Most appliance the polarity does not matter. 120v AC, AC stands for alternating current. The black wire in the wall is hot and gets wired to the gold terminal on an outlet. The white is common and gets wired to the silver terminal and the unshielded wire or green wire is the ground and is attached to the green screw. These basic principals also apply to appliances. To check the outlet there is a test light that will tell you if the wiring is correct. To check appliances, you should visually check the connections.

Reversed polarity on 2000 mazda millenuim, now my car wont start

if you are lucky, only the fusible link(in the fusebox in the engine bay) is blown. if you are not lucky, a whole lot of modules are blown, and this is really expensive.

Power outlets don"t work

Be sure what you are plugging into the outlet has the same polarity as the outlet itself. Some of todays accessories being foreign made have a reverse polarity versus american made cars.
