I notice that from time to time, after my computer has been on for a while, and I open Photoshop Cs3 Extended and open a picture, the only tool available from the "tools" menu is the "Hand Tool." I can click on another tool and nothing changes. Most of the time if I restart my computer, it solves the problem. Today, I was watching a tutorial, had Photoshop open, and was following along, going back and forth attempting to try a new technique, and the "Hand Tool" got locked on and once again I couldn't use any of the other tools. Any solution out there?
I also get this problem from time to time - maybe every few weeks and I accidently stumbled across the weirdest solution...
After trying re-starting photoshop with no luck I opened a browser and then typed "photoshop bugs" into google. I then happened to flick back to photoshop to look again what the tool was called and it had reverted to normal behaviour all by itself. Anyway, I assumed this was a fluke and forgot about it until next time I had the problem when I tried it again. Sure enough it made photoshop revert to the proper behavior. As I say, I have the issue quite regularly and I've experimented with different browsers (Opera, Firefox, Flock etc) and with typing different things and as long as I type the word "photoshop" into Google it temporarily fixes the problem. Weird eh?
I haven't experimented with any other stuff yet - like typing into another document or into photoshop itself as I usually just need to get it working asap. I'd be grateful if you could try this "fix" and let me know if it also works for you as it's been driving me crazy and I keep thinking "nah, no way did they write a 'back-door' into the program to do this on purpose. Did they?" Can't think of and other reason why it would exhibit this behaviour. Good luck and let us know.

I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet and for some reason it won't pick up on the tablet's pen pressure. Well, it does, but I have to keep turning on the shape dynamics every time I change a brush. Is there any way to make them permanent? I did it before somehow, but I don't remember.
