There is no response/change in the display when I plug the rice cooker in. None of the buttons are operational, yet the display still reads normally (time, timer), but does not change when I push any of the buttons.

You need to have the fuzzy logic board replaced. It will cost at least $50.00 according to the Zojirushi repair person I spoke with. I'm having the same problem. The buttons just stopped working.

Hello I had a similar problem with that same cooker, there is a power IC with readings AC05E that controls the screen and the power of the rice cooker. Get a replacement of that ic and you are good to go.
I am having the same problem. Here is what the Tiger people say. I haven't tried it yet though. * If an external power failure has occurred, but only for a short time, then there's a possibility that when the electricity has returned, all functions may work normally and the clock is working correctly. * When a power failure lasts for a long time, and the indicator is flashing 0:00... --> Please set the time correctly by following the instruction manual.
If the electricity has returned as in these situations below: (If it's already past the set time, after a lengthy power failure, cooking starts immediately.) * While cooking rice (or reheating rice). --> Continue to do the cooking (or reheating).
I had the exact same problem with my rice cooker. I took the lid apart. There was a broken wire because of the constant friction of the hinge when open and close the lid. After I soldered it, it started to work again.
First you have to make sure that the power outlet is working fine using a Multi Tester. Next is disconnect the Power Plug from the Rice Cooker and test continuity within the cord. make sure those two are both working good. next step is to open the Rice Cooker Bottom. Again using a multi tester, Test the continuity of the Thermostat, make sure multi tester setting is on the ohm setting. reading should be zero, if reading is higher than 200 ohms, the thermostat is defective. Which is the reason why your cooker is not turning on is due to an open in the circuitry. Check warranty with the store you purchased it from or the manufacturer of the rice cooker.
