Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook

Acer will not start up properly; "pulsing" On and Off

I had put it on stand-by and left it and closed the screen. When i went to use it 8 hours later, the power light will go on and the fan, but it keeps turning on/shutting off and the screen is black. I tried adjusting backlight/brightness and there is nothing. If i unplug it the pulsing on and off will stop and the power light will stay green but the screen is still black. Anyone with helpful tips? Thanks, Melody

Re: Acer will not start up properly; "pulsing" On and Off

Hi Melody, Try removing the battery with the AC unplug for a couple of minutes (an hour preferably). Try with just the AC adapter only with no battery and see if it works; try with the battery only and see if it works, try with both the battery and the AC adapter and see if it works. If none of the above will make it work, then you have probably a hardware issue or BIOS power saving issue. Post back results of the 3 tries and will figure something else. Good luck and kind regards.

You need to adjust the hibernation / sleep mode in control panel / power options. Set hard disk to never and the monitor to whatever. I prefer to disable all.

MX6448 won't boot; black screen.

It seems that you don't remove the battery when you use the Notebook. This practice shortens the life of the battery because, when you use the a/c adapter and the battery, your battery is alternately charging and discharging all the time. The cells in the battery eventually die.

From what you describe, it sounds like the power strip inside the Notebook (where you plug in the adapter cord) has been damaged and needs to be replaced.

Your computer is not a total loss. Just have that power strip and the battery replaced and your Notebook should be up and running again.

And, in the future, if you just remove the battery when your kid uses the computer, or if you are going to be using it for over 1 hour. Save the battery to use when you need the mobility.

Faint black screen

try the power management again if this does not work the try thebrightness of the montior if nothing ele only other thing is that the video card went from being on to long because it over heated you should buy a laptop holder for it to keep it off the table top and this way it gets more air to keep cool
