Cant connect to internet with emachine through lynksys router.

I just got a old emachne because my 1 year old HP broke down. I am trying to reconnect to the internet through a lynksys router as I have a laptop connected as well. Problem: I had a ethernet on my HP that connected direct to wireless router. The emachine does not have a ethernet port. I am not that good with refiguring the whole process. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You will have to add an ethernet card to your emachine if it will take one, or you might be out of luck

Problem with Acer Emachine and internet onnections!

Sometimes, the order in which u do things makes all the diffference.

1. shut down all machines
2. unplug modem and router
3. plug in just modem and wait for lights
4. plug in router and wait for all lights
5. restart computers

* if your still having an issue and your connection says local connection only then you need to reset the modem and router and then follow the above steps again.

We have a lynksys router. It is 2 years old.

upgrade the router to the latest version of firmware and reconfigure the same.

Also remove the existing saved connections from ur computer and then readd the new connections after reconfiguration of the router.

Lynksis Wireless Router does not stay connected to the Internet.

I suggest checking the documentation of your linksys router in the linksys site. Get the manual and that would tell you how to set it up. Regarding the router being broken, it is possible. Are you wired or wireless to the router?

Router doesnt connect to internet

This sounds like a problem with your DSL modem, not the router. Try unplugging both devices and wait about 10 seconds. Plug in the modem first and wait about 30 seconds (at this point the Internet light should be on). Now plug in the router and wait another 30 seconds. This problem is normally due to the modem not getting sync. I would try plugging your laptop directly into modem if this doesn't work to see if you then have Internet. If not call your ISP.

I cannot connect to the internet with the wireless router

I had the same problem when I switched to comcast from sbc you need to power down your modem and either press the reset button or remove the backup battery if it has one for about 30 seconds. power down your router as well. Connect everything back the way you want it and your modem will lock onto your router. You see, once the modem locks on you cannot simply plug it in to another component without restting it to open roam. Hope this helps.

Connecting wireless router to laptop computer

Try changing the channel on the router. It would be better to isolate the problem first by trying to connect to other wireless networks on your laptop or having someone's laptop connect to your home wireless network.
