Remote works, but not the reciever

I have had my Sony head unit for about 4 years now. The head unit does flip down, but none of the buttons work on the reciever. The remote controle can controle the head unit but the reciever itself just lights up and none of the buttons work. I dont have an eject button on my remote, so I cant eject the cd that is in the player. Any Ideas?

This one is tough one. It soundslike you have lost the connection between the flip face and the main head unit. I suggest you pull the head unit and get it to a bench for closer investigation. Look for and tears in the connecting wire harness between the Flip control, and the main Unit.

I got a sony cdx ca810x stereo and none of the face buttons work is there a way to reset it or is there something wrong with the unit please help as I have no money to buy another

Hello... I am sorry to hear you are having problems. You can manually reset the cd player. You can use a pencil or ink pen to press the small button to reset the unit. If you flip the face down it should be there on the actual unit. I should say "reset". This probably will not fix your problem. The other thing you should do is to remove the face and clean the contacts with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and see if that will remove any debris that may be hindering a good connection. Make sure the face is attached back onto the unit securely. If after doing this, it is still inoperable, then you will need to replace the unit. Unfortunately, at this point there would be no way to tell if it is the face or the unit itself that is bad, so complete replacement would be the best option. Sony has been good about keeping the same harnesses through many years, so it is possible that if you replace it, get another Sony and it will plug directly in and save you any install and parts costs. Hope this helped!! Good luck with your venture!!

Sony cdx-M8800 car stereo buttons wont work

There is a ribbon cable that runs all the flip panels electrics, these are prone to breakage.
I have seen some of the cables on e-bay for a few quid, and also if you google "sony x-pod ribbon cable" you will get a big choice of places to order, and get instructions on fitting.

Cd player locked

It has a defective ribbon cable between the face and the motherboard. This is a common repair, but must be done by a repair shop. My shop charges around $60-70 for parts and labor for that repair, to give you a ballpark of what to expect.

Face does not come down and remote won't work

EXTREMELY common problem for these units. The faceplate ribbon cable has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
