ViewSonic Optiquest V773 monitor smoking
Does anyone have a parts list for the above monitor. I have a copy of a schematic diagram. My monitor died (smoke coming from unit). Upon investigation, I found that component R802 had fried. Since it has Rxxx, I assume it is a resistor, but can't determine exactly what type it is. Does anyone know.

- I do have the same problem, my is a View Sonic GS790. I just turned it off, so i would not be affected by the smoke. I have a second monitor, so I can still use my computer...what shall I do? Throw the monitor out and replace it?thanks

- acerview 34t began smoking at age 7. it still was working, but i was afraid it could ignite and burn! what can be done about such a problem??!? replaced it with a gateway 2000 from 1994! it is ok so far... - GuestSolution #1

If you have a monitor that is smoking, you need to get rid of it. Especially if it is 7 years old. It has lived it's life. While many monitors do live longer, you can get a new one for under $200.00. Why go through the bother trying to fix it? Monitors should never be opened by the regular computer user for "fixing". Only an electrical specialist should attempt this otherwise there could be serious injuries to the consumer.
