SOURCE: print head failures HP 1050c
the tube system has an air leak causing a dryfire situation. air + printheads = damaged printheads. most users replace the black printhead more often than the colors. the seal where the printhead feed pin fits into the carriage is the end of the tube system. the hole in the seal becomes to large and doesn't properly seal the air out. order the tube system. complete and concise instructions are included in the box for tube replacement. this is considered an end user replaceable part. good luck! please rate this!

SOURCE: My Design Jet 1050c does not like to print PDF's.
Two questions:
1. How large is the PDF file and is saved on your local hard drive?
2. How is the plotter connected to your computer? Network or directly connected via parallel or USB?
Try changing how the printer processes the print job.
On the driver properties / preferences, select the Advanced tab and change the Process Document to "in computer" and then try printing again.

To be honest this sounds like a driver problem. Go to the HP website, www.hp.com, and download updated drivers and software for your printer and Operating System. If you have upgraded to Windows 7 but are still using the Vista driver set which is possible it will cause this problem.
