It sounds to me that you need a new mower deck drive belt, or your blades need sharpening. If the blade edges are rounded, they won't cut butter... Also, when mower is off, check mower deck drive pulleys to make sure you don't have any that are locked up or are dragging. You can check this by pulling the belt away from pulley and spinning the pulley by hand. MOWER MUST BE OFF before attempting any of these checks. You would be surprised how many people would try this with the mower running.

That is a cap screw you are talking about. The size of it is 7/16" X 1-3/4". The John Deere part # is 19H2563, but I am sure you can just get one at the local hardware store. I could not find out for sure, but on most blades they use a fine-thread bolt/screw. If you can tell the difference, check before you buy, or just buy both and see which one threads in easily. There usually bolted on from underneath you must have a wrench are set of wrench to take off. Most models are some times kinda hard to get to

Its not the tires it is the blades don't line up.One blade is three-quarters of an inch lower.Is there a shim for the star fitting.
