I would like get rid of this snow. I read I should change the voltage. How do i go about this on a Samsung HP-S5053? Thank you Is this something the average person can do or is better done by a technician. If so what is the cost if the set is out of warranty? HP-S4253
This change the voltage doesn't sound right to me. You What voltage is someone telling you to change ? You should just have to plug into the wall and turn on and get a nice picture. I think something inside has failed and that is why you have the snow.
Sounds funny to me, I would have a technician look at it.
Sorry to say that most of the sets now the shops like to take in there shop. Its really easier for them. $75 dollars is about the going rate for them to0. But then you have the cost of the parts. Most places will just replace a bed board inside which is more costly than years ago too. Many years ago we replaced just a single part not the whole board and it was cheaper but now its a plug and play society or just throw it away. I would think the shop will come pick it up for you and yes they could damage it taking it to the shop. With Pioneer TV's you have a kit with all the boards that the set uses and I would fix it in your house in about an hour but not all manurfactures do this or shops either. Sorry

Ty, I had several technicians tell me that it needs to go to their shop for diagnosis. 75 dollar to check whats wrong with it and then applied to the cost of repair. I had another tech tell me its probably the y board, but needs to take it to the shop. Lugging a huge set like this is not easy and could actually cause more damage to the set.
Do these sets break down that easy....? Wow $1300 for a TV to last two years, does not sound practical. Welcome to new technology.
