Question about Canon DC20 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Mini DVD will not eject

My DC 20 stopped recording today with the "do not shake camera" error and then stopped recognizing the disc in the camcorder. When trying to eject the disc it thinks there is no disc in the camera but will not open the disc bay to allow a blank disc to be put in. I beleive the disc is faulty but cannot get it replaced without taking apart the camcorder. Is there a way to manually eject the disc?

Re: mini DVD will not eject

Yes - your warranty will be voided and cost of parts can be unreasonably high , but if your ' do not shake ' display came on repeatedly ? the door switch may have gone out of alignment during a fall : the canon service manual is available only to authorized servicers so a set of quality jeweler ' s screwdrivers would be needed to . . . void the warranty some more but let you open the cabinets to get at the release mechanism ;

Is there any way to finalize a mini dvd disc from a Canon DC210 without a working camcorder?

hi, i dont think so usely it as to be made by the camera, normally when you finish recording
you press pause and then stop and let it go for few minutes and the camera should finilize
the disk by chapter,then eject.

hope that will help

How can i get mini dvd to play on dvd player

Make sure that MiniDVD has been finalized in camcorder then it can be playback in any other DVD Player.
Finalize option would be available in camcorder dvd setup menu, select it to finalize recorded mini dvd disc, please note UnFinalized mini dvd disc will only playback in camcorder because of its raw data and Finalization will validate this raw data so other dvd players will recognize this mini dvd disc for playback.
Hope these info will help you.

Hitachi mini dvd cam will not eject disc, will not read, will not write, will not record. Also cannot read mini disc on Windows Vista, is there a driver for either of these issues?

This has happened to me many times. The disk has an error (they alway do).

1: Turn it off.
2: Attatch power connection.
3: Hold down eject button.
4: It should say: "DISK ACCESS"
5: It may take a long time, but put it down in this state and leave it for as long as it may take.
6: Later on, it will eject the disk.
7: Discard of this disk, it's nothing but trouble.

Editing videos taken from canon dc100 camcorder

I see here that . . .

"The DC100 takes 3-inch Mini DVD-R/RW discs, and like most of its competitors, can fit about 20 minutes of best-quality video on one. If you choose to initialize a disc for playing in a standalone player, the camcorder writes standard VOB files; if you initialize for future editability, it records in the VRO format. Windows Media Player can play the latter if you rename the file with an MPG extension, however the aspect-ratio information gets lost--that info is encoded into a separate file--so 16:9 video will get squashed into 4:3. "

Cnet Reviews.

Your videos are recorded in the common DVD format called MP2.
They have the extention .MPG so if you copy the video files to your computer, and change the end of the filename from VOB, or VRO to an MPG then your software can recognize it as the MP2 format that it is.

There is a Windows XP program, called Windows Movie Maker, it can open your video files and provide you with most of the video editing tools.

Canon DC210 Camera

The error message is because, either
1. the disc was initialised on another camcorder, or maybe a PC, or
2. The disc has a recording on it in a different TV system (PAL v SECAM).

From the above, it may be you're using the same disc in two camcorders. To be sure of seeing what's on your disc you need to keep it with the same camcorder from 'initialise' to 'finalise' .

To be able to see the disc on a PC you need to finalise it on the camcorder. There's no other way to get to see your work on a PC.

Unfortunately I think you've lost your recordings this time.

DVD Camcorder appears to have erased disc mid record!

I know it won't play in a dvd player till it is finalized. Leave it in camera mode, hit menu, and scroll down till you see the option to finalize. If you finalize it, it should play in a dvd player. I am having a problem with my camera(same model) where it won't finalize the disc. Any help out there?
