Eed help connecting MacBook Pro to Vizio VP50HDTV

I have a Vizio 50" Plasma TV (VP50HDTV) that I'm trying to use in conjunction with my Macbook Pro (MacBookPro4,1). I have a DVI to HDMI cable that I have going directly from my Mac into HDMI 1 on the Vizio. The Mac detects the Vizio (it shows up in the detected displays) and I have mirroring turned on, but the Vizio is continuing to say "No signal". I have restarted my Mac as well as turned on and off the Vizio and to no avail has anything worked. My goal is to get videos and slideshows on my Mac to show up on my Vizio. Can anyone help?

I tried changing the Mac's (Color LCD) resolution to the following and none worked:

        1280 x 800

        1152 x 720

        1024 x 768

        1024 x 440

I then tried (via the Mac) changing the resolution of the Vizio display to the following, but they didn't work either:

        1344 x 756 (interlaced)

        1024 x 768 (interlaced)

I would say this is a resolution issue. The LCD on your MAC is capable of a much higher resolution than your television. To mirror your MAC you must lower the resolution to something that is at or below the televisions native resolution. The native resolution of the VP50 is 1366x768 so you will be able to do the following resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1366x768.

How to Fix MacBook Pro HDMI Not Working?

Having trouble with your HDMI port not detecting your monitors or TVs all of a sudden? Go to system preferences -- Click Display - Hold down the alt option key -- click the newly revealed Detect Displays button on the bottom right of the Display settings panel. That should solve 90% to 99% of issues if your cables and Macbook pro are good. This happens to me all the time when I try to plugin to a 4K tv at the office which is the exact same model I have at home. The one at home works while the one at the office never auto detects. If this did not fix your issue, check that your Macbook Pro HDMI port and HDMI cable ends are clean and free from debri and not damaged, double check that your HDMI cable is working on other devices, make sure your TV or display is powered ON, check that your HDMI cable is securely and fully seated, check that you're on the right input on your TV or Display, make sure the cable is not too long because HDMI has length limits depending on the cable and devices, and then force detect display again on your Macbook pro. If this still did not work, when it worked before. It's likely that your Macbook Pro, TV, or Macbook Pro HDMI port is acting up. I'd recommend taking in your Macbook Pro to the Apple store at that point to get diagnosed. Hope this helped

Macbook pro 10.6 os. And hook up to my wifi panasonic 26"tv to steam movies from my macbook

Try and use the bluetooth: Make your T.V. discoverable(I'm sure it's under the network settings or maybe it has a bluetooth settings tab) and pair with it trough your macbook. I would personally just hook up a thunderbolt to HDMI or VGA. You could also get a apple T.V. and connect that way.
