Whatever I do the demo mode keeps coming back after a few secounds. The instructions with the unit were worse than useless and eventually were shredded through pure frustration.

Here is how to shut off the demo:
1) Press and hold the SEL button for several second until DEMO appears on the display. Release your finger from the SEL button.

2) Using the Volume control knob, turn left or right to turn on/off DEMO.

3) Press and release the SEL button to accept.

Setting the clock:
1) Press and hold the SEL button for several seconds until the DEMO shows on the display.
2) Use the right search arrow in the 4-way button just above the SEL to get to the clock hour. Do not use the up or down key.
3) Turn the volume control knob to select the hour.
4) press the right arrow once more to get to the clock minute.
5) Turn the volume control knob to select the minute.
6) When finish, press and release the SEL to accept.

Good luck

Simply pressing and holding the "SEL" button didn't work for me. The display went straight to the clock-setting mode, not "DEMO." I found out that the unit always goes back to the last function you performed. Once I got to the clock-setting mode, I had to use the left or right arrow key until the display says "DEMO," then use the volume control knob to turn the demo mode off.

I cant seem to set the display to stay put with one colour.

you have to go into the main menu of the cd player. find demo mode and hold your knob down for like 5 seconds should turn it off. not too shure about the demo mode in that particular cd player but that is how it is with kenwoods brand new........or look in your cd player owners manual and find the section on DEMO MODE then go through the steps to turn if off.

Stuck in demo mode

When you are in STANDBY mode hold the menu button for a few seconds and a special menu should pop up. In this menu you should be able to set the clock, turn off or on the beep, and take your unit out of demo mode. Good luck.

To turn off the demo you need to press the src button to put it in standby mode. Then press the menu button as if to change the settings and use the joystick to scroll right until you see demo, then turn it to off....

Do as above to allow you to enter AUX mode this will let you plug in your MP3 player to the input on the face and hear music through it ;)

hope this helps you
