This is an SDTV, a new purchase. Manual for startup suggests channel search first. When attempted, I received the message "no signal." I checked this at Philips support site, and they address this as follows: 1) Be certain all connections are secure; 2) Do you have the right tuner? (I have no idea what a tuner is). When I attempt to channel search by individual channel...see example that follows: Click on channel 2 -- no signal; use Channel+ to search for next channel at which point the screen(s) that come up are: Front, AVI, CVI. I'm using the same wall connection that I used with my previous TV, and that worked just fine. In fact, I've hooked it up again...it's not great, but better than nothing until I can resolve this problem.

Hopefully, anyway.

I had a similar problem, and my solution was this: I pressed menu on my TV and using my universal remote, went into setup, and then channel search (or near to that), at which point it began searching for analog and digital channels. This can take up to approx. 30 minutes. I suggest you occupy yourself while waiting; it is a sluggish process.

If you want assurance, your TV will have the majority of analog channels (basic cable), and a couple digital. I am basing this wholly on my experience, however. Once finished, it should switch immediately so a channel. Mine was a weather station.

I hope this is successful in helping you and those in the future.

I have a Sharp TV model LC-32SB24U. I cannot access the menu screen because I lost the remote control. Is there another way I can change channels without a remote?

The Sharp LC-32SB24U has menu, input, volume up/down and channel up/down buttons on the top of the TV. When you access the Menu using the buttons on the TV, the Input button is the same as the Enter key. The volume up/down buttons map to the left and right arrows. The channel up/down buttons remain up and down. The Menu button is the closest to the power button (on the right). The volume buttons are the ones on the left.

Make sure that the input is set to TV to change channels. Then you need to program the available channels, access the Menu and navigate to Setup (left/right arrows). Press Input to enter this sub-menu. Then use the Up/Down arrows to select CH Setup. Press Input again to enter. Now you can set the channel source and let the TV scan for channels that have a strong enough OTA signal or are unencrypted cable channels. These are the top two options in the Channel Setup menu. The details are available in the manual which is available here: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Sharp_LC37SB24U_LC32SB24U_Manual.pdf . For OTA channels, you may need to check the signal strength under the Antenna Setup - Digital option in this Setup menu. OTA Digital signals will not be tuned in if the signal strength is low. It's an all-or-none tuning; amplifiers and external antennas may help. See tvfool.com for details of transmitters and the recommended antenna for your area. (Warning: damaged amplifiers can become filters and block the signal on some channels. Replace the amplifier if it is damaged.)

If you look to replace your original remote with a universal remote, you'll need one that was programmed more than 6 months after the TV was released. That may be 12/2005 based on the manual copyright date. Look for a remote that has a Menu and Input or Source button and check all of the codes to find one that matches all of the features on your original remote. Amazon has an OEM remote for the LC-32SB24U; remotes.com also has a replacement remote available that has been programmed for the TV. (On remotes.com, search for the LC32SB24U.)

I hope this helps.

If you have a universal remote control, you should be able to use its code search function as described in the instructions to find a code that will work. You did not identify your universal remote so I can't be more specific.

I own an Accurian Portable DVD player, and have lost the remote control. Are there any universal remotes that can be programmed to work on the player? Thanks!

You would be better with an original---many so called universals even if they will program will be missing key features the original remote had.

Ur5u-8780l not operating channels on Magnavox TV. Tried all codes and switched channel control to TV, still nothing.

If you are using a universal do not expect it to even if it programs to have all the functions you need or want or had with the original remote.

Universal remotes are far from UNIVERSAL.

The best argument for an original remote is even if it programs it will just not have all the features needed or wanted that the original had.

Hope this clears things up a little.

The set needs to be switched from antenna to cable in the setup menu. It is capable of either antenna reception or cable reception. Ch 2-14 are the same frequency for antenna and cable but above 14 they are different. That is why the picture is stoping at 14. After you switch it to cable auto program again. Thanks for using fixya.

No input channels

Universal remote control are normally programmed for basic functions, ie. chennel up down, volume up down, numbers, etc. This is even written in the manual that they do not guarantee that all functionality can be used. Here are your options: 1. Try all the codes that match your TV, there is a slim chance that the other code have the functionality that you need. 2. Buy the original model remote control. 3. If you know of someone that have the same TV, buy a universal remote control with 'learning' function and copy the signal from the original remote control. I have the same problems before. Now I use my Casio wrist remote control to copy the special functions such as A/V so that even if the original remote control is lost, I can still use these functionality
