Re: monitor

You wont have any of these if you have onboard graphics, to get graphics with rendering and 3D texture you will need to fit an AGP graphics card and dissable on board graphics.

I can't find AGP aperture size in Integrated Peripherals

Hello the manual can be downloaded here:

Adobe reader, is needed to read the content.

My advice is to install a better graphic card, on the mainboard.

The mainboard has PCI-e socket.

This will give a much better performance.

ATI/AMD makes very good graphic cards.

Good luck

Use of agp

The primary advantage of AGP over PCI is that it provides a dedicated pathway between the slot and the processor rather than sharing the PCI bus. In addition to a lack of contention for the bus, the point-to-point connection allows for higher clock speeds. AGP also uses sideband addressing, meaning that the address and data buses are separated so the entire packet does not need to be read to get addressing information. This is done by adding eight extra 8-bit buses which allow the graphics controller to issue new AGP requests and commands at the same time with other AGP data flowing via the main 32 address/data (AD) lines. This results in improved overall AGP data throughput.

In addition, to load a texture, a PCI graphics card must copy it from the system's RAM into the card's framebuffer, whereas an AGP card is capable of reading textures directly from system RAM using the Graphics Address Remapping Table (GART). GART reapportions main memory as needed for texture storage, allowing the graphics card to access them directly.[The maximum amount of system memory available to AGP is defined as the AGP aperture.

Asus a7n8x-x motherboard monitor will not fire up.{monitor}light just keeps blinking no picture. any takers?

Ensure that the AGP video card is seated all the way -that is a common problem with AGP cards. If you suspect the video card then try to find a PCI video card if you don't have another AGP card. This is the most direct way of isolating this problem. Best of luck to you, Steve Medley

Don't give any signal at monitor

I mentioned this for someone else with this mb. you can only use a 1.5v (V= Volt) agp video card, older agp video cards are 3.3v (anything new today or in the last 5-6 years is 1.5v) a 3.3v agp video card will permenently damage this motherboard! and some are incorrectly "keyed" for the slot (the last remaining run before the 1.5v turnover)

Funny thing is they recently introduced "universal agp" 3 "keyed" agp video cards. these can be confusing as well because some do have 1.5v and 3.3v capabilitys while others that still have the 3.3v "key" do not, nor will they draw 3.3 volts even if placed in an older 3.3v only slot, just 1.5 volts.

This is a finicky situation, and this motherboard along with many others in its class can leave you with more questions than awnsers in the end the more you seem go searching for them.

I hope you didnt damage your motherboard with the wrong agp card.
and maybe this will help others in the future with the same dilemma.

AGP texture acceleration not avalable :(

That is because your system does not meet the minimum requirements to enable it. Your prblem is with the graphics adapter agp - Axcellerated Graphics Port, YOu will need to have a compatable Graphics Card to do it along with a processor at least 1.66 ghz

Video card

in my opinion it would be best to upgrade to pci-e motherboard as the pci-e cards are actually cheaper than the agp cards these days, agp is dead by the way, most company's aren't making cards for it anymore.

imnsho you are wasting your money on a agp card.

about your att card, its most likely a driver issue. see if updated drivers are available.
