Question about Home Theater Systems

Light goes on and off lightware vp800

We turn on projector, fan works, light comes on, fan is on high working properly, it runs for 6 minutes, then only the light goes off and the fan stays on (in high position) and within 1-2 minutes the light comes back on and runs for another 5-6 minutes and the light goes off again. Can the thermal switch be bad? We think unit is cooling properly. When turned on and then off fan runs in low position, working properly also.

Hi, How long have you had the unit? If its new take it back and get warranty repair. If longer then, try giving it a good clean. Get some "Air Cans" if you can to blow trough the vents. It could be dust/dirt on the sensor. If you clean it first then we can be sure. If you are ok about taking the casing off then you can give it a better clean. If after cleaning it is still playing up, it is an overheating problem and best repaired by proper service centre as they can get the parts you need.

Standby indicator flashes

When the "Protection" indicator comes up the display panel of my receiver or the On/Standby LED is flashing, does that mean my receiver needs to be repaired?
The "Protection" light comes on when the receiver's current sensing and thermal monitors detect some unusual operating condition that, if left unchecked, might damage the amplifier. This can happen if there's a dead short in a speaker wire or if you're using very low impedance loudspeakers at high volume for an extended length of time. On older model AVRs you may see the word "Protect" on the receiver's display. More current models will indicate a flashing red light on the Standby LED when a Protection circuit trips
n thermal cases, the circuitry will automatically reset after a few minutes of cool down and the Protection indicator will go out and normal operation will resume. If the protection light came on due to a speaker wire short, low impedance condition or a bad speaker, the receiver's power will need to be turned off to reset it. Before turning the power back on, all speaker wire connections should be checked for their integrity at the receiver side and at the speaker side. If the protection light goes on immediately after you turn on the receiver, disconnect the speaker wires at the receiver side and retest. If the receiver's protection light goes off, then there would still seem to be a problem with one channel's speaker wires or speakers. Connecting them one by one and retesting should allow you to find the problem speaker or connection.
If after checking all your connections, the Protection indicator stays lit, you may need to "initialize the microprocessor (see the FAQ on that topic) or take your receiver to an authorized repair center for a diagnostic. The "Initialization of the Microprocessor" or "reset" procedure can be found in your owner's manual on current model AVR product. Please note, this will erase all setup configurations in the system and require the system to be setup again. You may want to mark down the settings before resetting your receiver to aid in the setup process. If you had an installer setup your system, you can contact them for assistance and any associated costs that may apply to setup the receiver again would be the responsibility of the owner.

Should my UK bought Bose mini system system work in the US with the right plug change as the green light comes on initially then goes out and the system does not charge?

US stuff runs on 115 volt, 60 cycle AC. If your European gear is not the same it will not work properly in spite of the plug change.

Runco Cl 610 keeps shutting down

on the cl-610 it would shut down after about 5 minutes of well as having to replace the customers bulb. so I took a look at the cooling system there are two fans which work fine, but there is a type of vent inside attached to the body of the projector it seems to have some back pressure if my words are right causing the fans to return the heated air back into the projector forcing the fast shutdown and lessening the life of the bulb. so as a test I removed the directional vent and I blew into it and most of the air came back rather that went out so I left it out and the projector has been running flawless for the last two days. might be time for a redesign on that directional vent cover. but check it for yourself first. if this has helpped please let me know.

Power will shut down after few minutes when volume reaches 12

If you check at the back of your hi-fi, you'll see a projection at the top where the cooler fan is located. The most likely reason is that your fan is not working (as required). In this system, the fan is turned on automatically at high volumes >=10, because then, the amplifier starts to get a temperature rise and without proper cooling the system might fault.
Try check and see if at these high volumes the fan is running, if not, then that's what needs to be fixed. Alternatively you can try running an external fan to see if it will produce the desired cooling effect.
