What brand of DVD recorder? On my Panasonic, I use RCA cables to connect my camcorder to the yellow and white inputs on the front of the DVR. I have to press "input select" on the remote a few times until I get to L2, I think. This is a "line in" sort of setting and it directs the DVR to get its input from the RCA-style cables. Have your camcorder playing something you've recorded in its Video mode. If your TV is on the correct input (mine is called "Video 2", I think), you should see the camcorder image on your TV screen. Now, just rewind to the beginning of your camcorder tape. Insert a DVD-R disk (that's what mine takes) in your DVR. Hit Play on your camcorder and quickly press REC on the DVR remote. Let me know if this doesn't work.

I have a DVD/VCR recording device and I need to hook up my camcorder to record videos to a DVD to submit to an organization for my son to receive a service dog. I can hook up camcorder straight to TV...

To record to the DVD, connect the A/V cables from the JVC GR-D347U to the A/V In on the DVD recorder. Since the DVD already plays to the TV, you just have to keep the TV set to that input. Put a blank DVD in the recorder. Set the DVD recorder to record on from the appropriate Line In (input) with the DVD as the target recording media. To make sure that all of the devices are on and receiving the output from the camera and DVD recorder, start playback on the GR-D347U and check that it displays on the TV. Forward the tape in the camera to the point where you want to record to the DVD. Stop playback. Press REC for the DVD recorder and restart your playback. Press stop for both the DVD recorder and then the camera when the desired video segment has been played back.

See page 21 of the manual for the GR-D347U. Treat the DVD recorder as a VCR for this situation. The manual is available here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/82266/Jvc-Gr-D347u.html?page=21#manual .

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the details of the DVD recorder for more information on connecting the unit in this daisy chain.

(Many recorders have at least two composite video Line In inputs. That's why you need select the correct one for recording.)

I hooked up my sony handycam to my dvd recorder & recorded it on a dvd. While it was recording it had sound (hooked up to the tv) but the recorded dvd does not have any sound.

your dvd recorder should be compatible with dolby digital 5.1 surround sound because that what camcorder uses. you can try to switch audio recording on camcorder to stereo.

Cannot copy video from JVC GZ-HD6 camcorder to DVD Recorder

If you can play the vision on your tv via an av connection you should be able to record it onto the recorder. the recorder can record anything thats being played on the tv even if the other device is connected to the tv via another av connection. try this & see if it works.

Magnavox MWR10D6 can't record from camcorder wrong channel

OK...try this...plug your RCA cables from your camcorder into the RCA input jacks on the back of the recorder. If you have a VCR, it can be plugged into the coax input on the back of the recorder. Use the coax output and plug it into a RF modulator (about $20 at Wal Mart). Plug the RCA output cables from the recorder into the RF modulator as well (Don't ask me why, but it seems to work on mine). Connect a coax cable from the RF modulator to the TV. Make sure the TV and Recorder are both on the right channel. The RF modulator will have a channel switch to use channel 3 or 4 on the TV. Make sure the recorder is set to E1 (Rear). You can check this with the channel +/- buttons on the bottom right of the remote. Good luck.

Can I playback my movies on a DVD-ROM drive?

No, DVD-RAM disc recorded on the DVD Camcorder will not play back on every drive. Some of the new DVD-ROM drives designed to be compliant with the new DVD-RAM book2 standards will playback discs recorded on the DVD Camcorder. Many previous DVD-ROM drives on the market that came out before the DVD-RAM standard was released will not play back discs recorded on the DVD Camcorder. HITACHI manufactures DVD-ROM drives for some PC manufactures as OEM products. HITACHI model GD-7500 DVD-ROM has DVD-RAM read/write compatibility.

Can I playback my recorded DVD-R discs on any DVD Player?

Yes, A finalized DVD-R disc provides playback capability to most home DVD players and DVD drives. (An 8cm DVD-R disc recorded by this camcorder may not be able to be played back by some DVD players / DVD drives, depending on the player, the DVD-R disc and the condition of the recording.)
