Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)
Initially, I got a D-Link N router which had the same problem, so I thought my 2 laptops aren't competible with it so I returned it. Then, I got this G router and tried to configure it several times - unsuccessfully. In some cases it wouldnt work, while in other cases it does - but the service is keep disconnects. I know that because I'm trying to use Skype and I see that there is no constant communication. When I connect either computer directly (with a cord) to the modem, it works fine, so I know the problem is somehow connected to the router.
Yeah i have the same probelm even after i spoke to a tech about the situation it got back on line but the problem still happens.

You need to update the os on the router

Go in to the routers settings.
Find the section where you enter you isp's username and password, usually WAN > Connection Type > and look for idle time, set it to 0 (Zero)

"SKIBUMBEND" Has the right ansure to this problem.
Just run the disk, go to suport, find there firmware update. Some where around there is the instructions on ho to use the up date. (you just have to go to some IP adderss). MAKE SURE you get the right version. (there's like 7 or 8) once your done, go to YouTube to test it. The video buffering bar will stop at like 33% on a 10 min clip if you haven't fixed the problem.

I had the same problem. If you have not updated the router's firmware immediately upon installing it then that may be the problem. I used the install disk and went to the on-line troubleshooting section. Anyway it seems that the firmware needed to be updated so that it makes the router refresh more often. Follow the instructions on the website.

none/blank. Initially, to acces some ISPs, the DLink would also ask for a password but once set will never ask again except when a reset is done.
On the old PC with the D-Link DWL -G122:
1. there is no need for a network key since you are not using one (as you posted) and therefore should be set to Open/Disabled/Not used;
2. When you installed the software from the CD that came with the D-Link USB wireless adapter on the old PC, other than the usual driver, it is highly possible that another software was installed. This is the DLink Configuration Utility which should be used to configure/connect the G122 rather than the built-in Windows WiFi Configuration. You can verify if this was installed under your Start/All Programs/D-Link Air USB/D-Link Air Utility. If present, use this to initially configure the G122.
hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.
