Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)

Network keep dissconnecting

Initially, I got a D-Link N router which had the same problem, so I thought my 2 laptops aren't competible with it so I returned it. Then, I got this G router and tried to configure it several times - unsuccessfully. In some cases it wouldnt work, while in other cases it does - but the service is keep disconnects. I know that because I'm trying to use Skype and I see that there is no constant communication. When I connect either computer directly (with a cord) to the modem, it works fine, so I know the problem is somehow connected to the router.

i am experiencing the same thing. not only that, i only get about 30 sec of streaming video or downloads and then it totally stops.

  • Anonymous Nov 24, 2007

Frequently disrupted internet connection. Similar to Tracy Lost. When I'm streaming radio and it disconnects, I have to re-establish connection through browser. Sometimes during a download it will freeze. We aren't using wireless. Two computers on the network, cabled together. quicway instructions didn't make sense to me. Found an interesting, possible solution at another website--delete address association to network card--but I wasn't sure how to go about it. When first got router, updated firmware through a U.K. server/with tech support assistance, so I'm assuming that wouldn't be the problem. I've noticed similarly posted problems going back YEARS for this model. What's going on with Belkin?

Go in to the routers settings.
Find the section where you enter you isp's username and password, usually WAN > Connection Type > and look for idle time, set it to 0 (Zero)

"SKIBUMBEND" Has the right ansure to this problem.
Just run the disk, go to suport, find there firmware update. Some where around there is the instructions on ho to use the up date. (you just have to go to some IP adderss). MAKE SURE you get the right version. (there's like 7 or 8) once your done, go to YouTube to test it. The video buffering bar will stop at like 33% on a 10 min clip if you haven't fixed the problem.

I had the same problem. If you have not updated the router's firmware immediately upon installing it then that may be the problem. I used the install disk and went to the on-line troubleshooting section. Anyway it seems that the firmware needed to be updated so that it makes the router refresh more often. Follow the instructions on the website.

Why does my WGT624 keep loosing connection. I would be on the Internet and for some reason, I would loose connection to the Internet. I have a Dell Inspiron...1521 computer.

In my case too this happened initially with my lenovo y410 laptop with netgeat router. In laptops if th ewireless network is set with "public" profile then the connection is sometimes dropped by the driver. If you or only a few persons are the only user(s) of your router and your WLAN is securely encrypted, then you can change the wireless settings of your laptop to be in "private" network, which will solve your problem.

My wife had a d-link wbr-2310 before we met. Now she or I can rarely connect to the router bur we can connect to other un secure networks..What can we do to 'fix' it?

Initially try disconnedcting the power cable from the unit for around 20 seconds then replace the cable. Now try to connect to the router.
If this does not work, use an ethernet cable to connect to the router as a wired connection and use your internet browser to connect to "" this should allow you to access the set up options again and make sure the connections you require are open (e.g. wireless). Then make sure the key entered into all PCs and laptops for the wireless network matches that from the router settings.

Keeps dissconnecting EVERYTHING

You did not mention which version your router is running (V3, V4, V5).

Iwould blame the connection loss on a flaw in the firmware. Go to thebelkin site and see if there is a new firmware available for you:

Looking around I found some people had similar problems:

If this helped, then please leave a comment here, so others might find a solution as well.

D Link Router problem?

No that can be the problem you could have laptops on the network at the same time.

There are several problems reported that may cause disconnection. First is the hiding of the SSID (wireless network name) and enabling WEP or WPA encryption. The recommended solution for that is to unhide the SSID in the router configuration.

Second is that there are more and more wireless devices and occasionally interference occurs on a single channel (even from non computer devices like wireless phones. As routers are often set to channel 6 you may be competing for radio communications with your neighbors. The recommendation is to switch the router to either channel 1 or 11. If your first choice does not work try the other.

Accessing encrypted wireless network

Hi Mike,

The password is only used in conjunction with the username when accessing the router via its web interface at At default, the username is "admin" and the password is

none/blank. Initially, to acces some ISPs, the DLink would also ask for a password but once set will never ask again except when a reset is done.

On the old PC with the D-Link DWL -G122:
1. there is no need for a network key since you are not using one (as you posted) and therefore should be set to Open/Disabled/Not used;
2. When you installed the software from the CD that came with  the D-Link USB wireless adapter on the old PC, other than the usual driver, it is highly possible that another software was installed. This is the DLink Configuration Utility which should be used to configure/connect the G122 rather than the built-in Windows WiFi Configuration. You can verify if this was installed under your Start/All Programs/D-Link Air USB/D-Link Air Utility. If present, use this to initially configure the G122.

hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information.

Good luck and kind regards.

D-link 634M wireless router problem

Assuming wireless connection is enabled in the router(if you have the option), and it was set up initially through a RJ45 lead; make sure the router is not using 108 mbps streaming, as your laptop probably only has 54 mbps capability. See if you can set it to 54 mbps and re-start router.
