I have a lexmark X3470 model - my problem is this - It says "Cover Open" after I replaced my inkjet cartridge. I've tried everything but it still says "Cover Open". Did I miss something?

Check the cover first making sure that it is seated properly and try depressing the switch which alerts you when the cover is open. If you depress the switch and if the issue still persists then please contact Lexmark technical suppport for further Assistance.

Note: The Switch is rectangular shape and is oriented vertically.it's on the circuit board very near the top. You can see the tiny button that the lever arm pushes.this button faces the rear of the printer.

Lexmark x3470 printer says "cover open" and it will not do anything. Curtis

Try these as I found them from Lexmark's website

Solution What you will see
The printer displays a 'Cover open, please close cover' error message, even though the cover is closed.
Possible cause of the error
This can happen if the lever on the cover open sensor is knocked off the switch assembly.
What to do
Take the following steps to try to determine if there is a hardware fault:
Steps Actions 1 Remove and replace the cartridges from the printer. 2 Disconnect the power cable and the USB cable. 3 Check that the power cable is plugged directly into a wall socket. 4 Reconnect the power cable. 5 Close the printer cover. 6 If the error persists, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further instructions.

COVER OPEN

There is a plastic lever in the back of the scanner where it comes into contact with a part made to push the lever when closed to work the switch. It is a poor design. The lever fits over the small micro-switch very loosly and the tabs wear out really quick. Lexmark will not send another lever. They state buy another printer. If you are real careful, you can put the lever back on the switch and hold it in place while you close the lid.
