Question about Mitsubishi VS-50705 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No Blue. Horizontal Lines.

I have a Mitsubishi VS-50705 built in '99. Over the past month there has been about a 4 inch thick horizontal line of distorted picture (not black) accross the screen. Sometimes at the top, middle or bottom. Now, about 15 minutes into watching, it looks like it loses the horizontal hold, such that it now flickers with what appears to be rolling lines of distortion. Impossible to watch. I brought the TV to a local repair shop and the tech said 1) The picture was terrible; the set had "no blue". He explained that what ever part of teh projection was responible for Blue, wasn't working.. and 2) The horizontal line/flickering problem was a bad signal board. He went on to tell me the signal board for this TV is no longer available and the only option would be a "rebuilt one". Repair cost $700+ !! Is this true and does this sound reasonable? Thanks. Eric

Not to me, but it also depends on if you could do this yourself or not. And the area you are in sometimes is responsible for the cost being high.

For past two days i'm getting one thich horizontal lines on my samsung 34 inch LCD TV

Vertical lines are usually indicative of TV failure while horizontal lines are generally an input failure. Try switching to a different input, use a different cable (HDMI vs. component), or try inputting through DVI or VGA. Easiest solution is to replace the current cable you're using.

Mitsubishi vs-55707 or vs-50707????? bouncing horizontal lines weird color

If the picture looks like a 3D then you have a convergence failure.
I would suggest to visually inspect the STK Ics for dry or crystallized solder joints.

Mitsubishi #VS-45605

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mitsubishi VS 50707 ( not 705)

I have the same TV built in 99. My problem is similar but the vertical hold gives out when the tv warms up about 5 minutes. I will attempt to locate the vertical hold circuit and replace any parts I suspects may be the problem. I suspect a cap is leaking or transitor around IC700 is degrading when warm.

Black horizontal bars and jumpy picture.

Yes . Some of these caps are in the secondary of the power supply and some are on the signal board around 5v and 7v supply lines on the signal board . The 5 & 7 are mounted on heat sinks and the caps are right around there .Generally either 2.2uf or 4.7uf or the 47uf . Good luck

VERTICAL ROLLING, VERTICAL BLANKING BAR LOCKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE, ALSO MAY HAVE HORIZONTAL PULLING OR TEARING. CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2. CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
