Question about Mitsubishi VS-50705 50" Rear Projection Television
I have a Mitsubishi VS-50705 built in '99. Over the past month there has been about a 4 inch thick horizontal line of distorted picture (not black) accross the screen. Sometimes at the top, middle or bottom. Now, about 15 minutes into watching, it looks like it loses the horizontal hold, such that it now flickers with what appears to be rolling lines of distortion. Impossible to watch. I brought the TV to a local repair shop and the tech said 1) The picture was terrible; the set had "no blue". He explained that what ever part of teh projection was responible for Blue, wasn't working.. and 2) The horizontal line/flickering problem was a bad signal board. He went on to tell me the signal board for this TV is no longer available and the only option would be a "rebuilt one". Repair cost $700+ !! Is this true and does this sound reasonable? Thanks. Eric
Not to me, but it also depends on if you could do this yourself or not. And the area you are in sometimes is responsible for the cost being high.
