Truck won't start yet again - locked up/disabled

Every now and then when my gf uses my truck it will lock up and won't start after sounding an alarm. We think maybe the wrong series of buttons gets pushed or something. Regardless, even after pushing the reset button it won't turn over. The only thing that has fixed that in the past is to unhook the battery cable for 30 minutes and try again. This morning even that didn't help. Any ideas??

Check for other ground wires. That's the cause of most problems. Clean Battery post (+ and -) and trace them as far back as you can making sure they are tight and clean. Check fuses, make sure wires are tight on the starter. If that does not work take and unplug every wire on alarm itself. If she moves the seat up check near the brake pedal and look for bad connetions.

Sounds like you are in "valet mode". If you can find your model number located on the unit I could be of more help. But, you can try putting the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position, press the valet button located under the dash, in the glove box, or where ever it is located, and then turn the ignition off and you should be out of valet mode.

These issues can both be solved through programming. The crank time needs to be extended and the door locks (may) need to be set to double pulse. Can you unlock the doors by pressing the unlock button twice within one second?

Please read all the way through to familiarize yourself with the process before beginning.

Let's try the programming; you will need the vehicle key and the remote. The control/programming switch is located in the antenna on the windshield.

Turn the key on then off; press and hold the control button on the antenna to select the menu. One honk of the horn/flash of the parking lights indicates menu one(1). Now, press and release the button five (5) times (door lock pulses), then press and hold the button. While holding the control button on the antenna, press the lock button on the remote once. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. The system is now set for double pulse unlock. DO NOT RELEASE THE CONTROL BUTTON.

We will now advance to the third menu; release the control button, immediately press and hold the control button. After three seconds the system will begin to advance to the next menu. You will hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Continue to hold the control button to advance to the third menu. You will hear three horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Now, press and release the control button three times, then press and hold the control button. While holding the control button, press and release the lock button on the remote. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Two flashes/horn honks is .8 seconds cranking time. Release control button. Turn ignition on to exit programming/learn routine. Test the system.

If after testing the system , you require a longer cranking time; re-enter the programming/learn routine, menu three, option three and press the lock button on the remote once to advance to one(1) second cranking time.

The programming/learn routine exits if the ignition is turn on, the control button is pressed too many times or there is no activity for 30 seconds.

When the remote start is disabled with the Toggle switch there is no reason why the door locks should not work. Sounds like faulty installation.,

It should be the same as the Avital 2 way LCD remote. Try pressing the "P" button on the back along with the unlock button simultaneously until the remote vibrates. If you got it right the remote will vibrate and you'll see a small symbol above the car on the remote that looks like a box with a vertical zig-zap line on each side. To switch it back to audible beep mode repeat the step and it should toggle the option back.

Alarm wont stop going off. Car wont start. Any way to disable it?

Plug your ears first, open the car with key, open the bonnet to get to the battery, disconnect one battery terminal and cover this with rag to avoid a short circuit. That should reset everything - alarm, radio. Do not lock the car. After an hour reconnect the battery. Hopefully alarm will have reset and then use the key in the ignition. Hopefully starts but you should buy a replacement button for your car and security system. If alarm sound again, disconnect battery again and call an auto electrician.

Alarm won't turn off

the valet key doesnt have a transponder chip in it, so it will allow physical turning of keyways and operations, but will not disable the alarm and often wont disable the immobilizer.

sorry to say i think you will need to get an autolocksmith , or main dealer to get you a functioning key with transponder chip mapped to your cars rfid system that will allow alarm to be enabled /disabled
