Amana Freezer not running

We have an Amana upright freezer that was purchased, delivered and installed August 13,2007 (just 2 weeks ago). We just noticed this evening that it is not running. We checked the breaker box, turned the controll to a higher number and pulled it out to make sure it was plugged in properly. We are not sure how long it's been off. Tonight we opened some icecream and it was VERY soft. The bread products are soft. I am very worried our home frozen corn and meats will thaw. I believe the product number is AQU1625BEW (I think it is a Q after the A)

Our Whirlpool upright freezer has a sheet of ice in bottom at drain--why?

Melt it again, and check it runs down the small drain hole, If not, clear the hole with a drinking straw. If it keeps freexing up, you may need an auxiliary heater added to the drain hole.

It is usually reccomended to let it stand in it's normal position for 24 hours prior to running to allow any oil to run back to the compressor. Unit should work.

Just had a new upright Frigidaire freezer delivered two days ago. Plugged it in immediately. It did not get cold after several hours. Turned it off then back on. Unplugged it. Unplugged it for several...

Whenever you get a frig or freezer delivered it is best to wait at least 24hrs (some say 8 hrs) before you plug in. It maybe unknown to you if this was shipped to you in the laying down postion. If it was and you plugged in it will not work because laying down the oil migrated away from the compressor.

Other than that the freezer could have (possible chance but still possible) problems that are out of your control. If you brought it at a retail store you have at least 2 weeks to exchange. Do that a.s.a.p.
Dont bother trying to figure out just exchange!!!

hope this was helpful

Frigidaire freezer quits running

actionsnax please remove the freezer from the GFCI. What is happening on this old unit is that if the compressor shuts off then tries to come back on before the pressure in the system equalizes, the compressor can pull 12 amps. This is normally higher than the trip point of the GFCI. I had this happen years ago with a brand new Amana SXS refrig, in that case no one knew the unit was on a GFCI. The manufactures require that this units not be on a GFCI.
Hope this helps
