The lap top wont charge because it has been dropped. there is nothing wrong with the charger so I am assuming the charging unit with in the lap top has broken some how.
I can also assume that this is connected to the mother board some how. So I have come to the conlustion if the whole mother board was to be swopped this would cure the problem?

- thanks for the advice.
I have since started to strip the laptop down but I have found the the connection is hidden by an extensive metal plate. I am now wondering if I have to get through the key board side. I am fightened that i may break the plastic if I try and prize it off. I have taken out all the screws but the lap top will not part it seems to be holding together somewhere near the hinges but I cant see how it can seperate. could I have a little instuction.
i have in the past had quite a bit of experience with resoldering parts etc I feel that if I could get access to this jack plug i might be able to do some thing based upon the last comment.

-   Hi,
I can understand and I shall take a look at what you have to say but I need some idea how to get at this part of the lap top . I have removed the heat sink but I can not get into the connection from there . I now assume you have to get into it via the key board side. I am a little bit worried that I might braek some thing if I start to prize of the keys or plastic surround around the key board. Can any one help give me any ideas please. -   Guest

Hello. Although this should cure the problem, there may be an issue with the battery connector within the laptop, causiong the battery not to charge. You have to perform more diagnostics on your unit before replacing the expensive motherboard. With a charged battery does the unit work? If no, then the problem could be a bad battery connector on the motherboard, or the foil-pattern connections around the battery connector terminals. Sometimes the damage is just around the battery connector terminals that connect it to the rest of the circuitry on the motherboard. I this case the cure could be a simple rewiring of these terminals to bypass the broken circuit board areas, costing you a few mere dollars, a little spare wire and time, or you may need to have this professionally performed if you're unable to do so. Most battery packs can have between 2-8 connections. If any of them get broken or stop working, different things can surface. I'd have someone look into this unit more indepth to correctly identify the problem, unless of course, you can find yourself another working motherboard really cheap. Good luck.
