The computer definately is powered on, but there is nothing going to the screen. I have tried multiple monitors, and video cards. I am not sure what happened to this computer as I got it with others ''as is and no info about them. Thanks for any help!!

  • michael_s_mo Apr 03, 2009

I tried that, it indicated the ram needed replacing, so i replaced it, and still no signal to my monitor. i tried more than one monitor and video cards once again, and i just cant seem to get a video signal to come out of this computer.Anyone else have any ideas?

.. Your board may need flashing..
Remove the side panel.
unplug the system
remove the battery from the main board, pry it loose,
remove memory (rams)
press the power button and hold it for 10 sec
replace battery and rams, plug in and turn on!

if you hear nultiple beeps the memory is damaged and needs replacing

if you hear beeps and slow intervals or none at all processor is damaged

other than that it should boot.

ps. Enter settings or bios and load defaults or optimal then save and exit. ... > after flashing.

Gateway a computer desktop has power but nothing on screen the computer doesn't have a tower

1) Computer doesn't have a tower? Means it is a 'pancake style' of desktop computer. A flat model.

2) No signal on monitor screen?
Good.
At least we know the monitor is good.

Problem is monitor cable, IF separate cable; or computer.

Computer isn't sending a video signal.
No Signal, Power Saver Mode, etc.

If an older CRT type monitor, (Looks like a small TV), and monitor cable is not detachable; use a known to be working monitor, and monitor cable.

If a separate monitor cable, use a monitor cable from a working computer, for a temporary test unit.
Put it back when deemed monitor cable is the problem.

Logic at this point, would deem something is wrong with the graphics chipset.
Whether mounted directly to motherboard, (Integrated), or a separate graphics adapter card. (Graphics/Video Card)

However, computer could be dirty inside, or have a bad Power Supply.

LED's (lights) light up? Maybe fans spin?
Means nothing.

1) If ALL of the Light Emitting Diodes were on at once, they would use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts of power.

3) A typical Processor can use from 51 to 130 Watts of power.
Just depends on what Processor it is.

Older desktop computer?
Ummm, 35 to 40 Watts.

That is why LED's can light, and maybe fans spin, but no computer.
NOT enough power to turn the Processor on.

Computer needs to be CLEAN on the inside. Inside of Power Supply too, as well as possible.

Proper method to do this procedure, post back in Comment if you need guidance.

Also remove ALL Ram Memory modules, and clean gold plated contact pins on bottom; with pencil eraser.
Reinstall. Make SURE they are seated in tight, and Lock 'ears' are locked in place.

Post in a Comment, as to the model number.
Example, DX4300-05. Should be on back of computer.

Clock resetting and power button malfunctioning on my Gateway NV53A laptop.

Replace the CMOS battery. In the Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance, open Advanced power settings, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, Adjust other settings to your preference. Set Screen Saver Time. Always turn off the computer and unplug when not in use, it will prolong life and a reboot every day will reset the computer. I would say you have a issue with the outlet connections/plug. If you have a multimeter you can verify.

My gateway fpd1975w tft lcd monitor does not work. the power button just flashes blue and nothing comes on. i put an old monitor to my computer and it worked fine, and i hooked my monitor up to an old...

Restart the PC and get into SAFE MODE. Hit and release F8 many times right after turning on PC. If it works, then go into your video setting and either change the settings or remove the video driver. Restart the PC and you'll get 800X600 screen, then reinstall the video drivers. IF it won't go above 800X600, screen internals are bad, LCD toasted. I've seen that happen with LCDs and older monitors.

No signs of power on my gateway mt3705

The power supply provides only 48V (or what ever is listed on the back) but the computer breaks out +12 -12 +5 -5 etc and if that power regulator is damaged it will not come on.
Remove the battery and unplug, hold the power button on for 2-3 minutes, plug in ONLY the power cord and press the power button.
Most likely if you don't get any text on the screen the internal power regulator/converter is damaged.

When turn on the gateway screen apear, but the monitor turn off or black and not apear nothing my computer is gateway profile 4 all in one

Your power settings may need to be changed, it appears to be going into sleep mode or power saving mode.

If you are using Vista, Click Start> Control Panel > Power Options > "choose when to turn off display" (in the left hand pane) and check that it says at least 10 minutes. Click apply and then ok.

Alternatively, right click on your desktop, select "personalise" and click on screen saver - then select "change power settings" to bring you to the same thing.

If you have xp, right click on your desktop and select "properties" then "screensaver| > "Power" and change it to turn off the monitor after 10 minutes. Click apply then ok.

If your monitor is going to sleep, either press a key or wiggle the mouse to wake it up.
