I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7407. It came with 1gb (2 sticks of 512) of PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM- 667 mhz; I checked the specs and found that it accepts up to 4gb. I bought two, 2gb sticks of "G-Skill" PC2-5300 DDR2 So-Dimm SDRAM. I turned the computer off and replaced the old ram with the new and when I went to boot up, it went through the initial start up screen (where you can hit the function keys to get into setup) but then it gives me a blank screen with a flashing underscore in the top left corner... I have no idea what to do!?!
Try to disconnect the new ram you just bought one at the time to see which one is defective. Also, 32 bit operating systems won't detect 4 Gb or ram, but they will show 3 Gb (even though they will use all 4 Gb). To resolve this issue, make sure that if you are using windows Vista to download the latest service pack 1.
