Question about DeLonghi Pinguino PAC-700T Air Conditioner

Unit will not blow cold air after starting up for first time this season

Unit will not blow cold air....constant 72 degrees air whether set on "Fresh Zone" or Cooling". I have tried resetting the red reset button on right side of front panel..not sure if the button is working because it doesn't "click" or stay in when I push it in. Should it? When the unit cycles to "Cooling" from "FreshZone" about three minutes after I switch to "Cooling", I can hear what sounds like the compressor or something else "kicking in" but the temperature of the discharging air doesn't change..always 72 degrees. This problem occurs whether or not I have the water tank in or out of the unit. Help?

useless answer...I have one other pinguino unit that ejects air at 50 degrees until the room is cooled to about 75 degrees. My other unit, and this one, used to work fine the last time I used it in May. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. This reply was useless. I had pretty well narrowed it down to what may be a faulty red reset button..you never addressed that.I do not want to pay for this useless "advice". I am NOT a school child and you gave a school child answer.Sorry to be so harsh, but please give value to subscribers...not a bunch of inane bs.

You may need to remove the rear cover to examine what is and is not running. once you remove the back, start up the unit on a workbench. see if the fan is running and the compressor has kicked in. look at the larger or two tubes coming out of the compressor. if it is cooling a small layer of frost or condensation will appear on this " suction" line. if this tubing and the other one are approx the same temperature, then there is a freon leak in the system. Only an EPA certified technician can fill your unit. I am not familiar with that RED button but it mat be a reset of some sort. With the back removed see how it is connected in the wiring circuit. if you have the wiring diagram, please send it to me under my regular email address and I'll walk you through the troubleshooting procedure.

That's because this unit is only designed to cool a room to approximately 75 degrees. http://www.fixya.com/support/p114531-delonghi_pinguino_pac_700t_air/manual-1811/page-2 It's not supposed to make the room cold, just comfortably cool. It automatically switches off of Cooling when it achieves this. If you want it cooler, you'll have to get a traditional air conditioner unit (like a window unit).

Tip

Tips for operating Air conditioning system on Toyota Hilux and someother...

To cool off your Toyota after it has been parked in the hot sun, drive with the windows open for a few minutes. This vents the hot air, allowing the air conditioning to cool the interior more quickly.

Make sure the air intake grilles in front of the windshield are not blocked (by leaves or snow, for example).

On humid, do not blow cold air on the windshield. The windshield could fog up because of the difference in air temperature on the inside and outside of the windshield.

Keep the area under the front seats clear to allow air to circulate throughout the vehicle.

On cold days, set the fan speed to high for a minute to help clear the intake ducts of snow or moisture. This can reduce the amount of fogging on the windows.

When driving on dusty roads, close all windows. If dust thrown up b the vehicle is still drawn into the vehicle after closing the windows, it is recommended that the in intake be set to FRESH and the fan speed to any setting except "OFF".

If following another vehicle on a dusty road, or driving in windy and dusty conditions, it is recommended that the air intake be temporarily set to RECIRCULATE, which will close off the outside passage and prevent outside air and dust from entering the vehicle interior.

HEATING

For best results, set controls to;
Fan speed ---- Any setting except "OFF"
Temperature----Towards WARM (red zone)
Air intake ---- FRESH (outside air)
Air flow ---- FLOOR
Air conditioning ---- OFF

For quick heating, select recirculated air for a few minutes. To keep the windows from fogging, select fresh after the vehicle has been warmed.

Press the "A/C" button on for dehumidified heating.

Choose floor/windshield air flow to heat the voltage interior while defrosting or defogging the windshield.

AIR CONDITIONING

For best results, set controls to;

Fan speed --- Any setting except 'OFF"
Temperature --- Towards COLD (blue zone)
Air intake --- (outside air)
Air flow --- PANEL
Air conditioning --- ON

For quick cooling, move the air intake selector to recirculate for a few minutes.

VENTILATION

For best results, set controls to;

Fan speed --- Any setting except 'OFF"
Temperature --- Towards COLD (blue zone)
Air intake --- (outside air)
Air flow --- PANEL
Air conditioning --- ON

DEFOGGING

The inside of the windshield

For best results, set controls to:

Fan speed --- Any setting except 'OFF"
Temperature --- Towards WARM (red zone) to heat; COLD (blue zone) to cool
Air intake --- FRESH (outside air)
Air flow --- WINDSHIELD
Air conditioning --- ON

The outside of the windshield

For best results, set controls to:

Fan speed --- Any setting except 'OFF"
Temperature --- Towards WARM (red zone)
Air intake --- FRESH (outside air)
Air flow --- WINDSHIELD
Air conditioning --- OFF

On humid days, do not blow cold air on the windshield. The windshield could fog up because of the difference in air temperature on the inside and outside of the windshield.

DEFROSTING

The outside of the windshield

For best results, set controls to:

Fan speed --- Any setting except 'OFF"
Temperature --- Towards WARM (red zone)
Air intake --- FRESH (outside air)
Air flow --- WINDSHIELD
Air conditioning --- OFF

To heat the vehicle interior while defrosting the windshield, choose floor/windshield air flow.

Sounds like the heater is on as well. Even if ac is not working it shouldn't get hotter than outside air temp. Possible stuck relay.

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a digital climate control system. The heat quit working, it doesn't blow out any heat. Now that it is warm outside the air stopped blowing out any air. The digital temperature on the climate control is not correct. When it states that it is below 30 degrees on the ext and it is warm outside the air wont be cold. Once it starts going above 30 degrees the air gets colder. Today the blower stop working all together. Was told it maybe the climate control unit was bad. You can hear the door opening/shutting when you switch the temp from cold to hot. But there was no heat blowing out whatsoever in the winter time. Could you please give me your opinion on whether or not it is the climate control unit or something else?

The unit keeps freezing up solid even on energysaver

Change or clean the filter and clean both coils, no air flow or reduced air flow, the coil will freeze. It will also freeze if its set to cold 72 min. setting. Example if your room temp is 72 degrees, than the air will be 52, and the coil temp is 32 degrees, any moisture will freeze. Hope this helps

My air conditioner stops cooling. Occasionally, it will just function on fan mode even though I confirm that it is on cool mode. Warm air comes out even on the absolute coldest setting. I have to turn it...

If after reset the A/C cools then the fault seems related to the thermostat or the cut off pressure switch or load cut off.
However is there is no cooling at all the compressor and the gas pressure- check for leak if gas is absent.- must be checked .
If compressor is suspect you must check the estimate and decide whether it seems better to scrap and buy a new one.

Unit won't cool. Unit is set on is on cool, but warm air comes out. Is there a reset button on the unit ? Unit is 21 1/2 years old.

Some of those old Mach 3's have a manual reset pressure switch, but you will have to take the cover off to find it. Most manual resets have a red button to push to reset. The unit may be low on refrigerant or the condenser coil stopped up with dirt.

Hello, it is possible that the unit may be undersized for you home and not being able to keep up with the indoor heat load. The only way to determine thia have a hvac contractor do a cooling load calculation on your home. I have seen many units undersized that cause this problem.

I have 2 goodman heating systems. one for upstairs and one for downstairs. The downstairs works great. With the same temp settings on the upstairs, The blower kicks on and you hear the the flame kick on...

i have seen this just the other day customer called and there thermostat would not maintain temp... changed batteries and after five mins did it again... couple of things need to make sure you have fresh batteries if it takes them in thermostat. also try overriding program by pressing the hold button and set where you desire see if it works then... if it still fails to maintain you need to make sure the unit is not running when it is suppose to be off... if the fan is running and the thermostat is not calling for heat or cool then it is possible the flame sensor on the heater is bad or needs to be cleaned... to be honest based on what you are saying sounds like you got two different items going on....
a sure way to test if your mechanical inclined is take the t-stat apart jump the r terminal to the w terminal go to unit and unplug for 10 seconds and plug back in if everything fires up and stays going you 100% have a thermostat issue...
