Paradyne Vista Compatibility

I jsut got a new laptop with Windows Vista and I tried to get use existing network to connect to the internet. However the attempt was nil. My desktop has XP and I have no problem with connection. I have been able to connect to the internet with the laptop wirelessly and via other networks. Is there possibly a problem with my Paradyne 6210-A3-200 not being Vista compatable?

My smartusb56 external modem don't work on windows 7, it came with cd on it driver for windows vista which i installed correctly and when trying to connect on internet with the modem i get blue error...

Open the cd drive in windows explorer and right click the installer. Click the "compatibility" tab and in the Compatibility mode tab, check the box and select windows vista from the dropdown menu. Click OK and try to install the driver again. If this dosent work, modems are incredibly cheap, you would probably be better off just buying a new one.

My windows 7 Pc cannot access my windows vista

you should check two things:

1- Check in your windows Vista if the file and print sharing is enable in the "network and sharing center"
2- Try disabling your firewall in your windows Vista to troubleshoot. If your firewall is blocking the connection you might have tp add a rule to allow access from your windows 7 to your windows vista

You should be conected.
Make sure the ADSL LINK or DSL light on the modem is solid before you create the connectoid.

Wireless internet connection

I may be able to help with this...but I need a detailed description of how you have things connected between the XP desktop, the cable, modem, the Linksys router, and the laptop. Also, is the Linksys router new?

Typically, the wan port on the wireless router connects directly to the cable modem with a cat5 network cable....then the desktop pc connects to the router...on port 1 for example...with a similar cable. Once the wireless router is set up properly, the laptop should then be able to connect using wireless.

type htttp:// in your browser.
you will be asked for a username and password
enter the default given to you by your router people.
or go thro the manual for the username and pass
once on the configuration page, you should config your router as specified by your ISP.
save the configuration.
that is all you are connected to the internet, Vista will configure your lan by itself, otherwise go to network setting in control panel, and ask vista to diag the network it will configure your network setting automatically.
