No Disc? My Portable DVD player says there is no disc in it. I've tried putting in different discs, including a brand new one. Everytime, I get "No Disc" on the screen. Help!

I have a onn dvd portable my daughter gave me while i was in hospital but it says no disc but the disc is in the dvd

This sounds like your player doesn't recognize the disc's format. You can either try the disc in a different player or try different discs in your player.

When your known good player shows "no disc" it means either the player has a problem recognizing the disc's format, or the disc is bad or maybe the lens has gotten dirty.

Trying to record on a DVD-R , after several minutes trying to load i get a msg saying it can neither read nor play this disc , check disc,,please help

I've had this problem with trying to record on CD-Rs also. DVD and CD recorders can be very fussy. You just have to get a piece of dust or a fingerprint on the CD or DVD that's being recorded onto and it gets kicked back as a check disc or blank disc..

Another problem is some recorders will only accept certain brands. I've had problems recording onto a SONY CD-R with a SONY recorder! So, in summing up, try a different brand or make sure the disc is clean. Sometimes just taking the disc out and putting it back in in a different position will make the recorder think it's an OK disc. Hope this helps.

Everytime I put a disc in I get an error saying no disc

Does the disc you insert are original..If not is isn't posibbles for your dvd player to not recognize yor disc cause most of the branded dvd players like you have didn't read pirated disc..but if the disc you insert is original. Try to clean your dvd player using a dvd disc cleaner.

Portable dvd player when you put disc in machine it comes up with wrong disc display on screen is it the settings

It would more likely be the types of discs used. They are either of a region code not compatible with the player, contain foreign/unknown data, or they are unsupported formats. For example, if the player supports DVD-R playback, and you put a DVD-RW in, the player will generate 'wrong disc' message if the player cannot recognise the disc or the contents on it.

The disc formats/types that can be played should be outlined either on the unit itself or in the instruction manual (if you still have it). If the player shows that message even with genuine shop-bought DVDs then there is a defect within the unit, workshop attention may be required to fix it, but it could be costly.

'WRONG DISC' usually means the disc inserted is of a different region code to the player, or the wrong format (DVD-RW instead of DVD-R as exampled above). Try using different discs before going any further.

Will not load DVD

1) If the DVD is a burned disc, instead of a factory-pressed original, try different media types and brands.

2) Also check that the disc is unscratched and otherwise clean. Inspect the laser lens and make sure that it is clean as well.

3) Make sure that the disc is truly a DVD or audio CD, and not a VCD or DivX movie on CD.

Hope it was the non-acetone type of polish remover - acetone will melt plastic !!

Invest in a laser eye cleaning disk - the kind with the tiny brushes.

OK what type of file format are the files in on the disk you are tying to play?

IDM-1731 does not like .AVIs.

Check your documentation as to what type of files your player can actually read and play.

Sorry I'm not more help.
