Turn on the power with the mode switch in the camera position. Press MENU to display the menu. Select Mode (REC Mode) menu item with the left & right arrow buttons on the control button. Select the "normal" setting with up/down arrow buttons. Press MENU to turn off the menu. I believe the pictures already taken in burst mode are retained in the camera. Your camera is working exactly as SLRs have worked for the first half-century since their invention. You frame the picture through the viewfinder then take the shot. The display is for menu settings and reviewing pictures after they've been taken. Newer DSLRs will let you use the display for picture-taking (and take videos) but the A200 belongs to the previous generation.

How do you turn the flash on in a sony cyber-shot camera?

The flash mode can be turned on by pressing the UP ARROW button dontinuously for the desired settings. Set it to Forced Flash to turn on the Flash for all the time.
The flash mode will not work when the REC Mode is set to Burst or Multi Burst. It will not work when the Scene selection modes like Candle Mode and Twilight mode is selected. Flash will not work in MOVIE mode also.

I have a sony cyber-shot dsc-w55 cammera, and my daughter turned the dial that changes the picture modes to many times and now it only records on every picture mode...any ideas how to reset it?

Based on the information you provided, it seems that the Camera is in Burst or Multi-Burst mode.

You may Initialize the Camera as follows:

Initializing the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camera.

Set the mode Dial on Camera. then, press the Menu button on the Camera. Then, select the SETUP menu and select the SETUP 1 option of the Camera. Then, select the Initialize option to OK.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!

No Display

Hi

Sounds like your camera is in 'power save' mode. Try pressing the 'Disp' button, that should turn your LCD on and you can then see what you are pointing at.

Hope this does the trick for you.

3 photos taken when pressing button once.

It sounds like the camera was in "burst mode." This allows the camera to take several pictures at a time, and is useful in situations in which the object of your photos is in motion. To turn this on or off, go into the menu and look for something that says burst mode. You may also see an icon that looks like a rectangle with two other rectangles behind it. This is the same setting.
