Tuner problem My tuner on my Marantz Model 19 receiver was dead. I took it to local vintage tech. He restored it some what. It works with the mute button off, but has trouble picking up stations. Tech told me he couldn't find parts he needed. He said they were motorolla transistors #334-1018 and 334-1038. I am not sure if these are marantz numbers or motorolla. Tech said that if I had any luck finding the transistors that he would install them for me with hopes of fully restoring my tuner section. I must say he did not give me a good vibe as far as actually being able to locate these parts

The numbers you list are Marantz numbers. Given this unit's age, there is a possibility that these are germanium transistors which are no longer available. I will look up your specific model's service manual, but it would help to know the location of the transtors in question here.

Keep us posted and look back in a few days.

There is a crackle when i turn the volume knob.

First unplug it. Sounds like you need to spray some tuner cleaner in the pots that are crackling. Pull the knob off and you should be able to use a spray can of tuner cleaner with the straw that comes with them to spray into the potentiometer , then rotate the pot several times while it is still wet. After cleaning them all, wait 10 minutes and then try.

Marantz SR870 tuner not working

Hello,
Make sure your FM antena connection is good. A receiver will not pick up an FM signal without an antena. Even a small piece of wire will work to test. If the Tuner section is bad, an external tuner can always be connected to an Aux input. Due to cost, it may not be cost effective to repair this unit.
Hope this helps.

LXI tuner not working

Unfortunately without the make and model, there is little that we can do to assist you. There are too many tuner designs to be able to give you any useful information. Please try the unit in mono mode and with any "muting" turned off. If you receive stations with the muting and stereo modes turned off, the problem is with an I.F. amp stage. If you receive nothing, that is informative as well.

Please investigate a bit more and post the make and model and I should be able to assist.

Thanks,
Dan

Marantz 6200

Your unit's micro IC, is in need of a reset.Un-plug the unit and locate the semi large yellow capactor on the main board. (r-h side facing front) Now flip the unit over and look thru the vent holes in that same area and locate the two solder pins. Short them out with a thin metal object, like a straightened out paper clip or wire, and turn it over (just discharge the cap and remove your wire) this will default all settings and restore normal operation.
