I was watching a movie when all of a sudden it went into a pause mode for a few seconds then shut down. Now it only reads "no disc" then an HO2 error message.

My DVD player stopped "seeing" the DVD. NOw all I get is a "h02" message. The fix for this is to replace the spindle. Don't know about the rest of you, but I have no idea how to fix it or where to a replacement. Plus they're only $50-60 each anymore. Our throwaway society at work.

Yes, and hello from Cape Coral, Florida... as a New York Giants fan I am still smiling from beating the cheaters named Belichek..... I've just received the H02 error while watching 'Old School'; what a great movie.... I just called Panasonic and they gave me a certified repair shop; I called and they said $35 estimate applied to cost of repair and they wouldn't give me the cost for replacing the spindle motor... So anyone know the cost for replacing a spindle motor on this machine? Can I do it myself?? Additionally, I've had not one problem for over 5 years, not bad for a $99 purchase price...Thank you... After having the player for about 3 years, it's no longer recognizing discs -- just showing the code H02 and then "No disc." The strange thing is that this is the second time it's started doing it. The first time was about 6 months ago, when it happened for about a day and then was fine until yesterday. Frustrating!

You should try this site. It worked for me. Also after fixing you should try and remove anything that may be on top of the DVD as this seems to cause the issue. We have had our S35 for at least 4 years and today was the first time I got the error.

Throw it out... I have the same problem with the h02 failure. Is anything built to last anymore? The moral od the storie is.. Don't pay a high price and plan on throwing it out when it breaks. I'm sure what a spindle servo cost, but I'm sure a new DVD player will be cheaper.

My dvd player plays dvd discs ok. but when i use dvd burned on my computer shows no disc.the same disc plays fine on my computer

Some DVD and Blu-Ray players will not play a burned disc until it has been finalized. Finalize the disc on your computer then see if it will play. (Finaalizing a disc means it can no longer be recorded to, by the way.)

The HO2 message means the disc is not spinning,it's not about the lens
or the laser. It is easy to take the lid off.Once you do that, plug it in,open the tray with the remote, put in a DVD,close the tray and then give the white plastic wheel on the top a gentle little nudge to get the disc spinning.

Code H02

Your DVD player is having an issue with the spindle motor (the thing that spins the DVD around). The following solution works for most people, and you should only have to do this once.

  1. Unplug the DVD player.
  2. Take the cover off.
  3. Place a disc on the spindle.
  4. Put a little pressure on the disc (so it doesn't slip) and spin it around a few times.
  5. Remove the disc, reassemble, and plug back in.
  6. Try to play a DVD.
  7. Report back if this solved your problem, or if more troubleshooting is needed.

Does not read disc including cleaning disc

The problem with your unit is the "Spindle Motor", this motor is the one that spins the disc so the laser can read it. I sugest you to take your player to a shop, or back for service if the unit still under manufacturer warranty.
