Question about GE WBSR3140DW Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer dysfunction When I toggle the electronic switch to start the washer, it turns on, and at first it made a clicking sound, but did not start. Now it makes no sound and still doesn't start, but the green lights do come on and if I leave the switch on the on position, they progress to the next light, etc. I have attempted to unplug and plug back in without results. Thank you for your time, Ryndy

Re: Washer dysfunction

Hello, not an expert on the subject, but have a little experience with a ge top load that might help further you along with your troubleshooting. I discovered by removing the top control panel, there is a service guide. On the service guide, you will find the instructions to activate each mode to test its fuctioning. If I were to take a guess, I would say either the microprocessor is not functioning properly or a bad drive motor.

Good luck.......

How to fix door on Samsung Washer model wf210anw. It makes 3 very hard clicks prior to starting.

Has the sound changed? The door lock assemble can be loud and sound like its faulty. If the washer completes cycles, then door lock is working correctly. One thing to check is the strike on the door. Look for anything that is odd or doesn't look right. A damaged strike can create extra noise. Good luck!

Want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial

I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.

I have a LG WM2701HV it is a year old and sometimes the washer is not turing on and doesn't turn. I have checked the wall outlet and other electronics work in it and the breaker. Help!!

Hi Robert.

If the washer is occasionally not starting there may be an inlet problem or the door switch may be defective.

Most LG washers display error IE (inlet) or DE (door) if the problem is detected. In some case the washer simply does not start.

Check that there is pressure from the house.

If machine does not fill the inlet valve must be tested. The resistance across valve's terminals must be between 0.8 and 1.2 KOhms
The valve must get 120VAC in first part of the cycle. Testing must be done by a trained person.

If the problem is intermittent the problem is more likely the door switch.
The door switch assembly is held by two screw. The door lock must click once or twice when the start/pause button is pressed to start the cycle.
The door switch can be tested reading impedance across its contacts. The reading must change between infinity and zero when the door is opened and closed.

In some occasion overloading may result in the washer not starting. Check if the problem happens in coincidence with overloading.

Washer 110.92573110 works fine until it should rinse. It just stops and does nothing. It won't pump out the water. The schematic is unreadable. Do you have an electronic copy of the service documents...

check the lid switch, open and close the lid just a little and listen for a clicking sound, every time the lid closes and opens the switch should click, also you can set the timer to spin, open the lid and stick a screw driver into the hole where the strike on the lid would go into, that's the lid switch,if it starts to drain and spin then you'll know the switch is bad,the lid coulld be bad and not do anything and that's why you have to listen for the clicking sound,if it does click and the lid switch is good another thing it could be is that no cold water is entering the washer, when in rinse all that fills into the washer is cold water no matter what setting the water is on,this is to keep the clothes from wrinkling but it sounds like the lid switch

My Bosch Classic 6 is dispalying the key symble and will not let me proceed with the washing cycle thank you

When the machine is on, and the key symbol is showing, push and hold the start button for 5 full seconds to turn the child lock off. Holding the start button also turns the child lock on if it is not already on (it is a toggle switch).

The washer Kenmore 600 does not continue between the cycle, it stops after washing and you have to continue by starting rinse cycle manually by moving it to a Rinse mark and starting again. It continue...

Check your lid switch. The most common cause of the symptoms you describe is a lid switch malfunction. Symptoms include, filling and stopping on the intial fill cycle, stopping after the wash cycle, failing to advance to the rinse cycle and no draining.

The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

A replacement lid switch (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

The average price is about $20 - $30. Prices differ between sites so shop and compare.

If you have questions, need additional assistance, please post back with your model number (located on a nameplate along the wash tub opening under the washer lid), so I can provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps you.

My washer turns off when i shut the lid...turns on with weightlid

Check your lid switch. The lid switch is toggled by the action of the washer lid closing and it will not complete a cycle if it does not engage. It sounds like the switch may be loose and needs to either be adjusted, or tightened. If you need instructions, please post back with a brand name and model number so that I can explain how to access the switch. I hope you find this helpful.

Open and close lid, listen for 'clicking' sound. If no 'clicking' sound, replace lid switch. If this washer has a hidden lid switch, check the lid hinge screws and make sure they are screwed in tight.
