Quit . Will not do anything. I checked the power to the machine.

Started to make a squeeling sound when in the spin cycle, then stopped. when i try to restart it in any thing cycle. the motor starts, then turns off in a few seconds, then i smell something burning. I looked at the pulleys and when i try to start it the motor pulley turns but the other two do not turn. Then it shuts off.

SOURCE: The Maytag washer doesn't spin and had a burning

You should have a tensioner pully (a small wheel on a piece of spring steel) that hold the belt tight.
If that spring steel is broken or weak, then you will have to take the broken one to your local appliance repair parts shop and obtain a new one.

That should keep the belt tight and keep the drum spinning.... -Jim

Maytag Performa PAV920AWW makes squeeling sound when agitating/spinning. Water does not drain completely during spin.

Sounds like brake is partially engaged. There is s kit that may fix that. Part # 12002213.

Engine noise on area of pulleys and sometimes engine tries to sto

Don't know if this helps. Had squeel in belt area. Occasionally engine would stop when squeel got loud and sometimes engine would try to quit while going at various speeds. Found tensioner pulley was bad and changed it. Still squeeled and engine would stop when squeel got loud. This time while sitting in yard. Further checking found binding in power steering pump. Will be putting on new one tomorrow. Hope it works. Will update.

Squeeling sound on spin cycle

This sounds like the same problem I had with my 887-327. It seems that coins can fall into the water pump from the bottom of the drum. I had to pull the water pump off the direct drive and turn the blades until the dimes came out. After I reinstalled the pump everything was quite again.

I have a Roper washing machine that will fill with water, agitate, and stops. I replaced the lid switch assembly and tried it again. Same thing, but one step farther. It went past the agitate and...

The black dust is from the motor coupler. It is normal to have some under the unit. If it stops completly and you chaged the switch check the lid adjustment if the lid is loose it might not make the switch all the time.

Squeeling noise

It could be just a dry belt and pulley. You could try the old squeeking car fan belt trick and rub soap on the belt. You can even buy sticks of anti-squeek from automobile outlets.
