Kenmore Elite washer pn 8526056 will not spin

- Here's a little more clarity. Since posting this, I found the model # 110.230321. I replaced the coupler which was broke but in place. Still no results. The agitator started to spin, but when the machine got to the spin cycle, it just filled with water. Drains ok too, but with more noise than usual. Today, I pulled the motor off again and slippled the transmission out. Transmission rotates fine for a little bit of time, then locks up. When I keep trying to rotate the shaft, it ultimately breaks loose and then locks up again. I'm guessing that I have a transmission problem. Shouldn't it rotate freely while holding it in my hands?

- you nailed it trydisndat! Tranny had a broken piece of metal under the main gear. I got a replacement and put her all back together, but this time,... nothing! Water didn't even dump out and no agitator at all. Dumped all the water and looked underneath, found 1 wire off motor. Reconnected and fired it up, still nothing but a hum during the spin cycle setting. Took the motor off and reconnected the electric lead and the motor spin only in the spin cycle setting, but not the other settings. I this also a motor issue or does the water switch need to sense enough water to start agitation? I'm ready to just buy a new machine!

- Another adder. I hooked iot up and ran it through the cycles. The only thing that did not happen was the spin cycle. It must be an issue with the tranny. I'll pull that back off tonight and break it open. When I replaced the metal dog leg under the main gear, I must have put it in the wrong position. I did look undere the washer when the spin cycle was called for and did see the coupling spinning, so that's why I'm going with another check of the tranny. Also heard a knockingn noise every second or two when the motor waqs spinning for the spin cycle.
