Wf860p computer control automatic

This machine worked fine up till one morning when switched on the display shows normal until you press start when it goes into test mode, does a short test run, then ends with the "on" message, there are no visible signs of any electrical damage on the module, motor reads ok on test meter, and heater element reads ok, so does inlet valves & interlock. there are no fault numbers showing. I welcome any other fault number remedies for future reference, many thanks

i have tried disconnecting the power, no avail, i am an ex engineer of almost 20 years, but this problem is new to me, it is my machine and is out of guarantee, obviously, i have tested the various parts for faults but do not have the hardware key, the machine runs through a quick test procedure then bleeps and allows user to reset programme details, number spin and options etc, then when press start goes into test again, is there an actual faulty part on the board, i am capable of replacing such as resistors and the like, i have also been reminded the power went off the day before, could a power surge have blown something?

I have had this problem it is caused by accidentally pressing both the on and start button together. It puts the machine into demo mode. You need to press both the buttons together again for about 30 seconds. If it doesn't work first time switch the machine off and do it again. Sometimes you have to do this many times before it works but eventually it does work.
Very frustrating.
I found the cause was either leaning on the front of the machine or resting a broom which when you pick it up accidentally presses the two buttons.

This problem is caused by a faulty main PCB, in the back on the left of drum looking from the back, this function should normally only operate when we fit a hardware key in the rear slot may resolve by disconnecting from power supply for fifteeen minutes and then re connecting but no promises. Used it yesterday, fine today. Pushed power, fine. Pushed start, why nothing?

Hello. I will take you through some basic troubleshooting. Being plugged in, display working, choices made, does the machine do anything after the start button is pressed? Examples include locking the lid, starting to fill with water, etc. Did you notice any error codes that popped up in the display? If nothing is happening after pressing start, and there aren't any error codes that have been displayed, the problem could be with the control panel. First, unplug the machine for about 5 minutes to reset the main board, then plug it back in. (You might see a spark and hear a "pop" at the outlet due to the amount of current being immediately used by the machine at idle--this is alarmingly normal!) The machine should give a short beep after being plugged in--this tells you that the main board is alive and receiving power. Try to initiate a cycle again. The circuit board for the control panel might be defective if you get the same results. Important: have you had a power outage recently--such as 3-4 weeks prior? They are NOTORIOUS for damaging boards in the electronic washers.

To initiate automatic diagnostic mode, follow this procedure:
press and hold the spin button for 3 seconds, release it for 3 seconds--3 times(yes, do the 1-one thousand, 2-one thousand, 3- one thousand out loud, lol--I do!) All the lights will light up and you will see "88" on the display. If there are any stored error codes, the most recent one will be displayed--Fxx(example: F2--means there is a stuck button on the user interface board) The machine stores the last 4 error codes--keep momentarily pressing the spin button to see any stored codes until the machine displays a C0. Image 3 has the instructions. The first 2 pix show the sequence of the automatic self test and what will be in the display as each of the machine functions is initiated. See the attached pix below. For any displayed error codes, you can do web searches using your model number and the error code to find out what the meaning is. Let me know what you find--to exit the diagnostic mode, simply press the power button. I hope this helps you!

Switch on it shows "test" and cannot programme

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
It depends on what date the machine was manufactured. The date should be on the plate which is probably in an awkward position on the back ;-0(
Date code 39 March 2005
Press start/cancel until ALL LEDS are lit
Press both start/cancel AND on/off together until 'dOFF' is displayed
Date code 39 March 2005 to date code 42 June 2005
Press the cancel button and the machine should return to normal
Date code 43 July 2005 onwards
Press both start/cancel AND on/off TOGETHER with top left option button until 'dOFF' is displayed.
Good luck!

How do I start the cooker on low?

The manual says "When your corningware slow cooker is initially plugged into a wall outlet, the display will show"0". This display indicates the programmed number of hours for which a meal will cook.

The slow cooker can be programmed in one hour increments from 1 to 10 on your digital display. The number of hours may be selected by pushing the COOK TIME button until the desired cooking time appears.

If 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 hours are selected, then the slow cooker will operate on HIGH setting. If 7,8,9 or 10 hours are selected, then the slow cooker will operate on the low setting.

To start the cooking cycle press the ON/OFF button. To interrupt the cooking cycle at anytime, press the ON/OFF button. If the ON/OFF button is pressed when the digital display shows "0", then the slow cooker will automatically start on the WARM setting.

When the full cooking cycle is complete, your corningware slow cooker will automatically switch to the warm setting, to keep food at a warm serving temperature."

If, after you plug the slow cooker into the outlet, the COOK TIME button does not work, unplug the cooker, hold both ON/OFF and COOK TIME buttons down, plug into wall socket and wait till the display flashes. Release both buttons and the slow cooker buttons should both work.

Error Message

I called the Hotpoint helpline and the solution to this problem was simple:

I had to press and hold the start/cancel button until all the lights on the display flashed
then I had to press and hold the start/cancel button along with the on/off button together at the same time, until the word "dOFF" was displayed... the msachine then functioned as normal.

Easy when you know how!
