Webcam is not detected in HP Webcam program

This is my parents computer (HP Touchsmart IQ 775 with builtin webcam) and I'm trying to set it up for a video conference. The webcam is not detected when I run HP Webcam, so I need to know how to set it up for a video conference and what I need to have the people on the other end in Oregon do as well.

I was able to set up the webcam with Windows IM Live and it works fine now, Thanks!!

HP Webcam software starts, displays this messege: "Warning. The embedded webcam is not found in your system. Please check it and restart HP Webcam applicaton", then exits the program

Hi are the drivers installed, is the cam built in? The answer to this depends on a few variables, such as the software may need to be installed before plugging the cam in.

The video conference depends on the the way you connect to each other...i.e. MS messenger is really easy to use for this you just select the conference mode, the people you want to join and away you go....

maybe it is? there are free wireless networks all over the place and seems that you have one in your area. if you dont want to stay connect deactivate wireless and you are done

The touchsmart features do not work. the webcam dodes not work also. the drivers are there working properly for the webcam, the software is not installed.

Install the software. Try setting the BIOS to Factory Default setting.

I have a Cyberlink built in Webcam on HP PC. HP webcam works in Media Center but not on-line. I cannot find HP webcam in Device Manager > Imaging... Pls Help. Mike.

Check on the HP website under the support pages for you model of computer, you should be able to find the drivers for the webcam, try to reinstall the driver software

Webcam not recognized

Ok, since I figured it out I will answer my own question for others' sake.

Webcam does not show up under "imaging device" in the device manager.

It does show up under USB controllers.

Right click on webcam and update driver.

Click Browse my computer....
Click Let me pick from a list....
Select "USB Composite Device"

Voila. Works in Quickplay, Skype, etc.
