Acer Aspire 3623WXMI - When switched on, screen is black & asks for a password. Please help

WOW, sounds like a bios password.

Oh dear. Can you find out who did it? That is the best option.
The password can be over ridden by a dealer. Contact Acer for details.

check that the sound is not just switched off (bottom right of screen) if not try a system restore to the point when it was last working. if this fails go to acer web site (www.acer.com) and down load the sound driver from there.they are all free.

If a 'qualified' tech damaged the screen, then it is up to them to replace the screen at their cost.

You could try finding screws slightly bigger and see if they will realign and stop it from being floppy.

Personally I would go back to the tech and complain untill they repair it properly.

Generally you don't need the Optical drive driver. Windows XP has built in drivers to support them. If you tell the exact problem then may be we can help

There are two places when you may be asked for a password - can you please clarify which one it is.

1. The BIOS password which will ask you for a password BEFORE you see the Windows loading screen
2. The Windows password, which will ask you for the password after the computer has started, but before you can see your desktop.

There is a reasonably easy solution for both of these.

Unfortunately, there is not a way for you to just replace the screen only.
