If the player blinks blue really fast then red it can only be one of two things. One: The bracket that goes over the micro SD card is not slide up and locked into place once the card is inserted or Two: One of the songs loaded on the micro SD card is in the incorrect format. Try playing just the songs that came on the player first. If thoughs work then load 10 new ones on and see if they work. Keep gradually adding songs until the player stops working to help find the problem song.

The rapid-blinking blue light means that the Zen's battery is too drained to allow the player to turn on.
It can take 24 hours or more to completely recharge the Zen using USB. If you see the blue light blinking slowly when you plug it in, then the player is charging, and you will have to wait for it to finish charging.
If, after leaving the Zen to charge for more than a day, it still does not turn on, then the battery may be defective and not able to be charged anymore. The battery will have to be replaced.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off,
hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer
while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button
for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into
recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says
Found New Hardware Wizard.
This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.
Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.
